There are so many fanfics in the Harry Potter section on any fanfiction site. It is getting harder and harder to find fics with original concepts. So this thread is for you to put down what you haven't seen yet in the fandom and would like to see. Hell you can even just put down a plot point that you would like to see.

1) I wouldn't mind reading a time travel fic where Harry travels back to when Dumbledore is a child. We have seen so many fics where Harry goes back to the Marauders era, Riddle era, his own era, etc. I have never seen one where he meets Dumbledore as a student.

2) Dumbledore is a Dark Lord and Tom Riddle is the leader of the Light. (I think I read a fic where Harry dimension hops to this kind of thing, but it wasn't the central part of the fic)

 

There was a fic where Harry goes through the Viel, finds Sirius and the headmaster of Hogwart’s turns out to be Riddle.
I can’t remember the link. Does anyone know the fic I am talking about?

 

@EvilSpanker: In the second part of the Stranger Trilogy, Riddle is headmaster and light oriented.

 

A lot of Dark!Harry stories have him snapping and deciding that he's evil/there is no evil/evil is really good in disguise/etc. What I'd like to see is a Harry that starts out "good" but gradually turns evil. For those who've played WC3, something like Arthas in the Human campaign. After Dumbledore dies, Harry takes over the war effort and starts making tough decisions. Maybe Harry kills someone rather than let them be tortured, then has to exterminate a village to stop them from being turned into Inferi, then decides to kill all the children of known Death Eaters at Hogwarts, and progressively gets more evil.

 

More stories like Second Chance.

 

I'd like to see a Dark!McGonagall fic. I dislike the character, I've just never seen one before. It might be interesting.

 

I want to see Durmstrang/Beauxbatons fleshed out properly. Its rare to see a story with a school of magic that isn't just either a) a copy of Hogwarts or b) an uber-magic school like in "Second Chance".

But don't anyone else do this, 'cos I have something planned

I actually started writing one like that, have it posted somewhere too. But it wasn't nearly worked on as hard as my other fics and it showed. I made the mistake of sending Harry back to when Dumbledore was a kid, had them meet on the train and sorting and had no idea where to go from there. A story without a plot

But yeah that is definitely something I want to see.

 

I've actually wanted to see for a long time a time-travel story where Harry is thrown back to one of the great conflicts Britain was immersed in, such as the English-Spanish new world domination, the Hundred Years War, the forming of Great Britain ie subjugation of Scotland, Wales and Ireland, The American War of Independence or the internal inter-family War of the Roses. Although it defenestrates canon and any familiarity it would make an extremely interesting read and tests the author's knowledge of history and their ability to weave the two together as well as satiate my love of ancient and medieval history.

 

I once saw a fic where Harry falls back in time and finds himself in Dunkirk, France. More specific he found himself in the middle of the Battle of Dunkirk. The author stopped writing when Harry was participating in the Normandy Invasion. It wasn't that well written.

I think it would be interesting if Harry goes back in time and changed muggle history like that. Imagine Harry went back in time and accidentally killed someone important, like George Washington? Would USA never get its independence? Don't know what a person can do with that idea plot wise, but it would be interesting.

 

Dunkirk is considered part of Modern History of which I care little for, the only aspects of Modern history i care for being that of Special Forces combat history. Otherwise anything post French Revolution has very little value of interest for me since technological advancement becomes too much of an issue. War stories to me are only worth reading when battle tactics actually matter rather than strategy. And there is a difference for those people who can't tell.

 

like taure said, i would like to see durmstrang done better, i wouldn't mind seeing Voldy's character written better as well. Too many times you read a story that describes voldy as "hissing" or "laughing insanely", to many authors make his character to one dimensional and dumb. I personally like seeing well written/ well thought out, characters.

 

Evil!sorting hat? I second whoever said that, this must be written. Other then that, I'd like to see a story which describes the wizarding world's politics beyond Harry becoming Lord Potter-Black-Evans-Emrys-Slytherin-Ravenclaw-Gryffindor-Hufflepuff-Hogwarts-Merlin-Poodle. I'd like to see the corruption that so many claim exists in detail, and the system's dealings with Muggle politicians beyond arrogantly scaring the crap out of them.

 

I'd like to see Harry taken and raised by another species. Like a goblin or centaur. A money-hoarding!Harry or star-gazer!Harry would be lulzy as hell.

 

On the subject of wizarding world politics, I wouldn't mind seeing a fic where Dumbledore decides to become Minister after Harry defeats Voldemort as a baby. I wonder what kind of wizarding world Harry would be entering with Dumbledore as Minister. I suppose he would be popular with magical creatures like Centaurs and Goblins and would also be loved by muggleborns who are now finding it much easier to live in the wizarding world.

 

Maybe goblin!Harry but centuar!Harry sounds boring as hell.

Now I could see Harry as Madeye Moody's son or Lockhart's son. Those would be full of lulz. I have seen Madeyemoody'sson!Harry seen done amusingly once but it was a little snippet and it was done by either Nonjon or Rorschach's Blot. Sorry nonjon but the lulzy stories all get mixed up in my mind and I can only remember that Rorschach's Blot did Mr. Black and you did the NicholasFlamel#6!Harry.

 

Hmm.. now that it's been kind of mentioned, I'd like an intelligent Voldemort. A Slytherin Voldemort. One who you never know what he's going to do next, and who doesn't hinge his entire existence upon symbolic ideas (like, letting everyone think he has six Horcruxes and seven pieces in all, but in the end he actually has eight, and kills Harry right after Harry realizes this). And who doesn't fly into a berserk rage basically every time he shows up.
