I am just about to start writing a fic where Harry wil be apprenticed to Flitwick, and I can't decide what to apprentice to study. Should it be Charms, where he could learn lots of cool nifty spells, as well as a version of spell creation. Or should it be Warding, where he could learn lots of wierd and wonderful warding spells. Or should it be Enchanting, where he would learn how to create lots of wierd and wonderful objects.

No matter what he wil also study duelling under Flitwick.

I thinks that the charms bracket is much wider than the other two and has more potential. Apprenticing in charms he can also touch on the other two areas.

Charms are simply too ordinary - every average Joe knows charms. You need something more interesting to write a story about.

Other two dirrections are much better.

Warding seems interesting but it's use in direct/offensive combat is questionable. Harry need something to help him kill Voldemort, not hide away from him.

I guess enchanting is your best bet. Mix it with potions and you could have Harry build all sorts of interetsing devices, weapons and traps to use against DE's. His fighting style could be like in Draco664's "Betrayal of the best kind".

I suppose thats a fair point, definitely not warding though, he can go into a it a bit because it's useful but i don't think it has as much potential

I wanted to see some spell creation, so I chose charms. But, Enchanter would be cool too.

by spell creation I meant that he would be learning that if you focus your will on the effect the words are mearly triggers. So how would be learning to make up spells on the spot using bits and pieces of latin from all over the place. It wouldn't be any of this fancy mathematical calculation stuff other authors seem to get wet dreams over.

Don't forget that Flitwick was a dueling champion in his younger years, so I'm sure fighting is something he knows a great deal about.
