I am a fan of mythologies and while I hope that this movie will take the Percy Jackson / Dresden Files way of dealing with the Nordic gods (i.e. make them the actual gods instead of aliens and combine the mythology with the modern world) I guess that won't be the case so I will wait for various reviewers to see it first and go based on their recommendations.

Trailer isn't bad but we all know that that doesn't mean much since more often than not the trailer may be better than the movie itself.

Okay, massive necro because the movie's coming out in a few weeks...

And much the universal surprise of pretty much everyone (or maybe just me), after the pre-screenings, it hasn't been universally panned. Critics have actually... liked it.

Is this actually happening? Can this movie actually... actually be good?

I was rather sure it will be good after watching first unofficial trailer around the summer. The only question I still have is how good it will be, but soon I will see for myself.

Thor is my favorite Marvel hero, so the movie better be Iron-Man amazing.

Seeing as I thought Iron Man was eh, it better be more than Iron Nam-azing.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Iron Man, but they could have done better. I'm also not a movie buff/critic, so this is all IMO.

People thought this movie would be bad? I mean, I didn't think it'd be the "best movie ever" or anything from the outset, but everything I saw since made me think it'd be a good movie. Nice to see that I'm not wrong in this instance, from the sounds of it.

It came out here and in the UK earlier for some reason so I am going to see it later. I'll post back later.

It was brilliant-if a bit short.

It had a lot of build up, and a long ending, so the stuff in the middle was rushed through pretty quickly.

The graphics was brilliant and the portrayal of a "young, arrogant prince" was well done.

    Natalie was awesome as always.

Edit, and one thing I noticed which is noteworthy, they linked in Ironman by a few offhanded comments by people.

Yeah, I liked how it tied in with the ending of Iron Man 2. The galaxy view at the end was quite pretty.

As for the film itself, I enjoyed it. Good mixture of story and action. The romance was brief and rushed. Part of the trailer didn't even make it into the movie, funnily enough.

I didn't stay for the post credits scene, is it online yet?

Just got back, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It all looked amazing, the action scenes were great (particularly when Thor actually got to be a god), and the script was excellent. I can't remember the last time I went to see a film and people actually applauded and cheered at various points.

Best Marvel film yet, for my money, and it's raised the bar significantly for those to come.

    Post credits clip:

Doctor Selvig (the one working with Jane/Portman) was summoned to SHIELD to meet Fury, who wants his help researching a potential source of 'ultimate power'. He cracks open a case to reveal a blue cube - the Cosmic Cube. Selvig looks at it, and Loki appears in a mirror beside him. He says something about it being worth looking at, and Selvig repeats his word.

Just came back from watching it. Didn't wait for the post-credit clip. I think it was a good film, maybe great, but for two things: Their over-use of slow-mo shots and the romance between Jane Foster and Thor. The first must have been done at least twice in every fight scene in the movie, and the latter really was unnecessary and unrealistic in what seems in-universe like a week.

Just seen it and enjoyed it thoroughly.

That said, the romance was too much and like someone mentioned above, alot of slow-mo.

Didn't look bad in 3d but would have preferred to watch it normally.

Almost nonexistent. Aside from Loki and Odin, the other Asgard that have any screen time, not really developed as they should have but this is Thor's movie.

To be honest - and I should point out I've never really read a Thor comic, so I'm hardly familiar with the characters - aside from the big three and Heinhelm (? The Birfrost gatekeeper) the other Asgardians didn't even register as names with me. Probably my single biggest complaint about the film.

I was like whats a Sif? I dont know the Thor universe at all. A little searching solved that problem.

But Heimdall was a badass for such little screen time.

Thor spent like a day on Earth, would have been better if it was like a year or more and the possible crazy homeless guy story line mentioned above would have been a nice start.

    Still it was worth watching.
