Pretty good opening episode, I thought. A tad weak dialogue wise (but still light-years ahead of the old Thundercats), and I really can't hear Lion-O without thinking of Batman Beyond or Boy Meets World, but it was really good stuff. A lot of world-building got shown in only one chapter, and I'm already thinking of this is a nice world to potentially play in, fan-fiction wise. :awesome

I am disappointed, Cheetara isn't naked like she was in the first episode of the original series. Lame.

 

And yet she's much hotter, has a better explanation for her abilities and is remarkably more interesting.

I don't think so....seems like its been generations since the first Lion-o. The whole fuss with the tech implies that. >_>

I liked it. The animation is spectacular and the writing makes this show for children and adult alike.

Still, I can't help but half-expect Lion-O to start doing the Feeny Call every time he opens his mouth.

 

Anyone else recognize the King's voice as being the original Lion-O? Nice touch.

I did like the old design, but I don't dislike the new one. The original would be inconsistent with the new style (although I was thoroughly unimpressed with Panthro's new design - his face gets wider at the bottom in a way that makes him look... unintelligent).

However, I think I'm missing Cheetara's old voice even more than her looks. This version is, presumably, younger... or maybe that's just the simplified style of the character designs (better quality, but lower complexity, with lots of angles and straight lines), so I guess the new voice is a better fit, from that point of view. However, the old Cheetara sounded like a woman (hell yeah), rather than a young teenage girl.

Considering half of Panthro's original role was being a total bad-ass and the other was being the head tech/mechanic guy, I'd like to know what's going to be left for him this time around... since the cats have no tech of their own.

I guess that doesn't stop him from reverse-engineering the enemy's tech, thus resuming his original role.

Unless the real Panthro is actually dead, in which case it's a moot point.

Another thing I missed were the old musical cues. Each character had their own (often kick-ass) theme music, even the Thunder Tank!
