Agreed. I was in the theater to see Avatar in 3D and the Alice trailer was incredible. The cat suddenly popped out of the screen and was staring me in the face. The entire theater flinched and then laughed.

Holy Jesus's ball. I am so glad I decided not to go while in an altered state. That movie would have messed me up.

That being said, it was very well done. Only a few bits I did not agree with and the ending was kind of blah.

    4/5 from me.

What say those who have or will see it?

Movie itself 4/10, graphics maybe a 7 (compared to avatar's 9) i watched it in 3d. Huge buildup, totally anti-climatic. Not reccomended.

Only good things were johnny depp and cheshire cat.. the 3d effect wears off very fast :S

Agreed. The movie was a massive let down for me. Most of the characters were easily hateable and the movie didn't have any substance to it at all. Helena Bonham Carter was good, the White Queen not at all. The story has been changed around a fair bit, it's no longer the Alice I watched as a child. And Johnny Depp? One of the worst performances I've seen from him. Alan Rickman was the best part.

/me does not recommend this to anyone.

This wasn't Alice in Wonderland... it was a generic fantasy adventure that happened to have some similar characters and background to Alice in Wonderland. Alice herself was seriously lacking in any sort of personality (as was the White Queen), and it was all a bit dull really. Aside from Depp and Bonham-Carter, the only thing that stood out was the CGI, which was really impressive. Not recommended, unless you're an effects whore.

I didn't mind the changes in story much, but I felt that if they were going to take such big steps like growing Alice up, then they could have pushed the story out a lot more. It started off interestingly enough but the story felt like they were a few drafts short of the finished script, but they ran with it anyway.

It fell into some rather obvious fantasy clinches, though perhaps that wouldn't have been as annoying if the story had been stronger. All in all it has very interesting characters, but I ended up wanting about half an hour more to the movie that developed the plot and 'Underland' and the supporting characters.

Well, I saw this opening night and it was basically a huge waste of time. It's trippy as fuck and made me feel all dizzy and drunk when I got up, but I didn't find it all that interesting. The only possible redeeming feature was the red queen's acting, but that may just be because I <3 Bellatrix (in the HP movies). Depp was decent, but I think his appearance was just so WTF that I spent the whole movie trying to figure out how they made his eyes look so huge and how long that amount of make up took to put on.

Basically, don't spend the $16 to see it in IMAX 3D because it's a waste of time.

Agree with most people there, the story was kind of stupid but the effects were great. I liked them more than the Avatar ones to be honest. When she falls down the hole and the piano flies at you, that was probably the best piece of 3D I have ever seen. Also the card soldiers looked pretty awesome.

But everything in terms of acting, story and such was mediocre at best. If you want to see it though, watch it in 3D, since once you lose that, the film has nothing going for it.

Wish they had made the original Alice movie instead of this version.

    3/5 for me
