I'm looking for stories with the following somewhere embedded in their central themes. Harry is a bright wizard is the first assumption I am making. Secondly through events left up to the author, Harry grows up safe and unharmed in his Hogwarts years, relatively untouched by Voldemort and the corruption hidden in the wizarding world. The war stars much later, after Harry is already an adult wizard, working as a quidditch player.

But as time passes and the shadow of war engulfs him, he becomes a cold and hardened man, experienced in magic.

And then an accident happens and he travels back in time, where Voldemort never existed, and Grindelwauld hid in the shadows, very much alive.

Tom Riddle is the head of the department of law enforcement, and an honest man.

    Dumbledore works dilligently as headmaster.

And at the moment Harry displaces native-Harry Grindelwauld attacks with an army so dark the world has never known it's flavour.

If you can't find it, please make an attempt to write it. Thanks.

1)The war with Voldemort starts much later.
    2)Harry goes back in time.
    3)Tom Riddle works in DMLE.

Harry having to put away his distrust to work with Tom Riddle might be interesting for a story. I don't know if it's been done well enough. There's the one where he adopted Riddle, which I think is middling.

Why does the war have to start much later?

Grindelwald attacking with an army so dark the world has never known its flavor doesn't sound interesting at all. This sort of threat is not particularly represented in the stories I've seen over here because it's too melodramatic and overblown. People like a brilliantly ruthless and charismatic Voldemort, even if he is insane. There is less extradimensional pit of hell invaders because they can get very boring. The premise is they're so evil you can't really wrap your mind around them. This allows an utter detachment from the story to settle in.

Even the Dresden fics here don't bother fighting against something like that. I think it was a popular Sailormoon theme back in the day because that's how the canon storyline tended to go. I've never been able to sit through Sailormoon.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few more fics where Harry's older, though that really infringes upon the school timeframe of the series (not much of a loss as long as it's understood). However most fics usually implicitly write Harry at a higher maturity level than his age (which I sometimes take issue with) so there has to be more effort than writing him more mature.

Again I wouldn't mind reading more where Riddle is good. It's not been written to death.

    My 2c.

In my new story, Spiralling Darkness, I am painting these components inside my web of creative writing. I plan to incorporate the idea of Tom Riddle as a good guy and would be glad for your feedback. Check it out in the Author's section.
