So they're finally adapting John le Carre's book into a movie. Here's the first trailer. I've got high hopes for this. An all round great cast in probably the best spy story I've read. Thoughts?

I havent read the book but going off the cast involved and the trailer it looks to be a fantastic british thriller. Cannot wait.

I tried to read this book once back in... was it Junior High? Maybe early High School? I can't remember, but it's one of the few books that I ever dropped without finishing because I just found it to, well, suck.

But that was then, probably more than ten years ago, and it's possible that it was just a bit out of my reading level at the time (I didn't really get into reading until 7th grade). I do recall that I tried reading it because it sounded like something I'd really like, so is it really that good of a book? I'd be happy to give it another go if it comes recommended by some folks here. After all, I didn't really like LotR that much that first time I read it either.

    Bump.

Film is now out, and it's really good. Not perfect - there are a few places where the leap of logic for the next scene isn't perfectly shown (or at all, in at least one case), and if you've read the book then some of the changes might irritate you - but the performances are uniformly excellent, and it's beautifully shot. Well worth a watch.

Cheddar: I'm thoroughly enjoying the book at the minute; I'd recommend giving it another go.
