It's almost like the author treated it like it was a living creature that has to be trained and nurtured by a real human being.

    OK?

The author chose to make it weaker than the rest of Grey's team and put it down without a fight, which I thought was a disappointing way to display such a powerful pokemon. I mean, are you saying the author treated the rest of the team differently?

Not picking up what you're putting down here.

That it could be a poorly trained pokemon?

That just because it's seen as powerful in comparison to others, it shouldn't mean anything when you apply logic to the world.

From reading that battle, I got the vibe that Grey wasn't a particularly great trainer, and that he leaned heavily on Hydreigon and Scoliopede (sp?).

That was the best part of the battle for me. Seeing a different kind of powerful opponent, with an imbalanced team.

It's kinda hard to get up to Infernus' level. And it's not like both Oz and Infernus weren't taken out pretty fast as well, considering their level.

It updated with the Final Battle. It's pretty good as usual and I like how it all ended.

    Infernus was :awesome as always.

Wait, so disregarding spoilers, is this fic complete now? I stopped about the time there was the mewtwo or giovanni interlude, and keep meaning to pick it back up.

    If it's complete, that's awesome.

Not yet. The tournament that was the focus of the most recent arc has finished. There is still plenty more to go.

... good luck with your heart surgery.

The author made the right call in regards to the final battle, imo. Ash will go to Hoenn next, regardless of Lance's offer. Whether he will take that on too, I'm not sure. Eh, he probably will. Now I'm just wondering what new additions to his team there'll be. Lance might give him a baby dragon, but I'm not certain. I'm hoping for Flygon.

Updated. This looks like the end of Johto.

No action, but a necessary chapter where loose ends are wrapped up.

The story will go on Hiatus while the author plans out the next section, and works on some other things.

So... how does the conference work, anyways? I thought at the end the winner would get to battle the E4, but apparently not.

I always thought that the winner of the Conference could either stop there as a Champion of sorts or test their luck against the E4 and maybe take over as champion of the league, but I'm not positive.

I'm pretty sure the conference is entirely separate from the Elite 4 challenge. Based on how much the author has hyped the Elite 4 and Lance, they're all a considerable cut above Michael anyways. I don't think the author has actually mentioned what the criteria for challenging the champion is in his story. Presumably it will come up while Ash is learning about his role as an Elite 4 trainee.

I would assume that the winner of the conference gains the right to challenge the Elite Four. Given the strength of Lance and the lesser members it would seem that the winner and possibly the runner up of the tournament would be the only ones who might actually stand of a chance of presenting a challenge.

If handled that way though, it would lead to a rather extreme lack of challengers. Thinking over it, I agree with MobMentality on this one, the E4 could just as easily be something else entirely.

You've got it right. The Conference Champion is allowed to challenge the Elite Four, although they rarely manage to defeat any of them. It's an inefficient secondary method to find new members. Most members and trainees of the Elite Four are personally recruited by a current or former member.

Thanks! I figured I should go ahead and correct any misconceptions since I won't have any other way to answer them for a while. It's about time I got on here anyway.

I've been getting that a lot, lol. The hiatus shouldn't be too long, though. Probably just two months until the next chapter while I work on the prequel and my other stories. Hoenn should begin in three or four months, depending on how long everything else takes.
