I'm quite liking Fukurou, though Harry seems like he might be a little too powerful, I suppose it's par for course for Uchiha though...

Of the other Naruto/HP crossovers mentioned, I definitely think Against the Odds is the best. The first few chapters (well, about the first five chapters really) are not great by any stretch of the imagination and might be putting some people off, but it's worth carrying on. It's a pretty realistic post-OotP canon-Harry in the post-timeskip Naruto-verse (and remaining in contact with Hermione and Ron through the mirrors), without chakra, using canon-magic in a believable, non-OP way. Chapters 6-11 rest on the character interaction and it's actually pretty good, unlike the overwhelming majority of crossovers on ff.net (including most of the good ones) - believable, interesting, canon-compliant and able to deal with actual feelings without becoming an angst-fest.

Reading back it kind of looks like im saying it's fantastic - it's not. I'm just shocked that that aspect of it is genuine four-star stuff - it's such a rarity in crossovers. Chapter 12 includes the most serious action so far, and that's well-handled too, using a Naruto-canon antagonist in what I believe (I stopped reading the Naruto manga shortly after the time-skip, so I could be wrong here) is an original location with supporting OCs.

Overall, with the first part weighing it down I wouldn't call it library worthy yet, but if it carries on at the level of the more recent chapters it definitely will be - it's slow-updating with long chapters though, so who knows when the next one will be.

Fukuruou sadly began as a more fun enterprise of Harry being a boss in the Naruto universe, but with the inclusion of Danzo and the conspiracy, an actual account of his power shows that the story has blown it out of proportion. I wanted to see a badass Harry being cool, not an omnipotent Harry suddenly being the most powerful player in Konoha.

The most recent chapter was disappointing, because gathering multiple summons is exactly the kind of mary sue plot device the story was avoiding. Fukuruou for the most part made good use of all of his resources to achieve maximum potential, but now he is just arbitrarily powering up for no real reason, and his inflated importance really devalues the fic.

I'm still going to be reading it, but none the less I wish it'd taken a different path.

I think the author needs to show more of Fukurou's interaction with Mikoto so we can actually understand why he went off and collected two summoning contracts. He only ever vaguely mentions that Harry is doing Mikoto's bidding, without ever showing it in an actual scene. At least, according to the relevant anime episode, the ninja cats weren't exactly all that powerful. A genin Sasuke was able to defeat Nekomata. I don't know much about the crows but I can't imagine them being anywhere near equal to toads or snakes in power. So maybe these two contracts are only approximately equal to a single toad contract anyway.

As for Fukurou being overpowered, eh... like someone else already said, he was a 150-year-old wizard, grizzled Auror veteran, and cunning politician. Now he's got Uchiha eyes and elite ANBU training. Of course he's one of the most powerful shinobi around. There's no doubt that he would be significantly stronger than Itachi and just about as sly as Danzou.

Using magic in combination with ninja arts, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to accomplish many great feats, like developing a kekkei tota or some neat space-time jutsu. He just shouldn't do it too easily or too often, and the cost for his abilities should be high.

I think the fact that the Uchiha strongholds are being fortified points toward something other than an Uchiha massacre. Maybe the clan will be exiled after its plans are unveiled? I don't know, but I like where the story is going.

The worst part about the last chapter was the whole stats crap. But I can overlook it because the rest of the story is original and entertaining.

Yeah, this chapter was great. I think at the moment we are all worried it will all turn to crap and Mary-Sueish, but really, it has been going smoothly still.

I am wondering how old Torune and Fu are though. This must've been at least ten years ago, but they were still tasked with capturing Fukurou. But, it doesn't really matter though as the capture was nicely done in my opinion. I am trying to figure out how he would get out of this though cause if he manages to escape alone, it will either be unbelievably brilliant or unbelievably stupid and illogical.

The obvious choices are Itachi, Mikoto or Madara?

The scene he orders the guy to kill himself.

Him strapped to a table with a guy prying his eyelids open looking at his eyes.

Do we see a picture here?

That's why to quote it from this chapter:

Anyway, my guess? Spontaneous Apparition working like Madara's Space–Time Migration technique.

Huh. Musta glossed over that part.

Still, I imagine here, he'll finally figure out how to use, or access the 'proper' HP magic, not a bastardized form of a mix between both he had until now.

I kind of hope he does lose his eyes and then break out afterwards. Bitter Eyeless angry old wizard with revenge on the mind? Might be an interesting jumping off point.

Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to it.

Danzo would be so disappointed with Fukurou's eyes in that case - there is nothing inherently powerful about them.. :-/

I wonder - if Harry loses his eyes and later takes Itachi's, will he have Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan? Or because he didn't get it on his own it won't even work for him like a normal one.

...does it matter if her vision is sealed? Her brain still works, and Fukurou's mind is still active, though his body is not. I think he's going to apparate away though.

Well, Legillimens and other Sharigan techniques often require eye contact, so being able to do the surgery blind would prevent most eye techniques. But yeah, I think apparate might be one of the few ways that Harry can escape at this point. But the thing is, Apparition needs a wand to be done right? Otherwise, Harry might get a splinch scene :p

Harry's left off doing apparation because of the chance of splinching in a world where no one can cure it. Chances are though that he'll try it if given the impetus to do so (like having his eyes cut out from his sockets).

Regular updates and a decent cross-over, what more could one ask. I'm curious though, how the Uchiha massacre will be explained to the rest of the village, not to mention the surviving Uchiha.

Updated. They were seals to protect him. And Danzo's done.

I wonder what kind of person will Sasuke grow up to be with his mother still around.

Also, in my opinion Harry is quickly becoming too powerful in too many ways. He already had raw power and his magic knowledge. Now he has not only all Danzo memories including ninja techniques he knew, but also resources (meaning Root and its operatives).
