I don't like Harry/Hermione, and even this story leaves a bad taste in my mouth whenever she is in the scene, but, I still read the story. For it had done its job when attracting me in, for now I want to know what happens.

Mainly for the fact that Harry needs to act more like a Ravenclaw(he seems to barely study any more, or atleast doesn't show it) and it doesn't have a better pairing.

 

I read the fic...
I was disappointed at first. I thought, Harry's a whining bastard. Kept to himself most of the time. He bitched on and on about this issue. Then why didn't he do something about it?
Harry needed to get fixed or something. He was starting to sound like a broken record.
I read on. I just skipped his complaints and read the rest of the story. I find the fic an OK read. It gets a bit interesting in the last update. Hopefully, it'd focus on that rather than his brother or Hermione.
As for Daniel? He can fall off a cliff or get killed. Publicly. That way, the whole wizarding world could go into panic. Harry could either destroy the dark lord or just run away. Then, end of fic.

 

It's is actually my favorite fanfic. I'm a big H/hr shipper, so ship is the reason I started to read the fic. A lot of people said that the relationship moved to fast in chapters 8 and 9, but the Meghan said that time passed between the 2 chapters. Which made must more sense when I went to re-read it. When I read this fic, I felt bad for Harry, and wanted to give him a hug. Dumbledore in my opinion is very manipulative, I hoping that it's one of the manipulative Dumbledore fics. Meghan also said that no one really knows who the bwl is, but the fact that Harry was knocked out, and Daniel had V's wand just made everyone think is was Daniel. I liked Harry's attitude in this fic, It seems right to me.
I hate Daniel, but I think that he wants Hermione not because Harry has her (that's just an added bonus) but because he wanted to be his parents. He is like his dad, chaser, Gyffindor, headboy, and Hermione is smart, and headgirl. That and he has Ginny who looks like his mom. I loved Harry punching Daniel that was great. I'm also glad that Harry didn't tell Hermione everything in that last chapter, that would have been moving to fast, and I don't think that it's that odd that they gotten together. Hermione seen Harry saving them kids and let Daniel take credit, and let other treat him bad, she is obviously not stupid I'm sure that she knows that there's more to it.
I can't wait tell everyone finds out that it's Harry who's the bwl, and the family, etc are in shock.

 

I enjoy the HarryLuna interaction in this. I like HHR but Harry seems like he could have something genuine with Luna instead.

 

Since it has been brought up. I personally like this fic. The H/Hr seems a bit strained and yes Luna would be better in this fic. Harry is more of a Slytherin to me than a Ravenclaw.

 

I loved the fight scene. It was very well done, especially the part with the Harry/James banter. That was high class.

 

Yeah I lik this fic a lot and now that hes expelled I can't wait to see where she goes with it. While he's badass she makes it seem genuine and hard earned. The Harry/Hermione leaves an awful taste in my mouth, but I can stomach it if she keeps up with the good writing.

Ima seriously get mad if Harry doesn't do anything with Luna.

The fight scenes...they are fine, nothing truly spectacular but a bit bland.

Really like this fic, I think I had it in my favorites since chapter 21.

Sort of thought it went downhill a little with the locket, but then it bounced back with the entire Luna interaction and Duel.

Harry getting expelled and James dying, I don't really see that staying in the story...maybe James comes back and Harry returns to school, IDK but at first the author seems like a bit of a fluff writer.

But she has surprised me with some of the things in her story so I guess something could have happened.

It has always been here, I never thought it was but one day I created a thread for it in 'For Review' and to my surprise it was here.

Mod deleted the thread and told me it was here, never actually checked here since I never believed it would be here...I know sad excuse, but it's the truth.

Isn't there some rule that says a story will be moved to the library if it seems to have improved?

 

I think so... it needs enough positive reviews to get moved but a consistent rating of 3/5 is supposed to land a story here. I aggree this story doesn't belong in the trash bin at all. So far were at 3.86...

And no... James is alive and coming back... she says so in her yahoo group. If you check it out she usually is one chapter ahead on it so you can see the unbetaed version there.

If you go to her website you can read the next chapter in advance, and find out what happened to James.

He was petrified not killed, and he will be unpetrified soon. Harry is also expelled, and will reside in Flitwick's house. I thought this was a pretty unique twist.

Don't know if it matters but I don't think I've voted. I'd give it a 4/5

 

Generally fics with the Twin storyline never seem to be compatible with Dark Lord Potter. Still, I think that Unsung Hero is the pinnacle of that particular genre in terms of writing quality.

 

MOVED to The Alternates.

I started to read this a while back. Just wasn't for me. Very simple and engaging writing style sucks you in and makes for a good read. But just too much focus on angstiness and romance. I remember being so bugged by the fact that Harry wanted to be famous, his brother was being a dick, and while he'd done so much more than his brother, he kept lying for him. When I want to bitchslap all the characters, I have no reason to keep reading. And as Hermione's go, this one felt as annoying as the average Hermione in Hermione!bashing fics. But I think we were supposed to like her.

Like I said, very readable but not for me.

 

I usually don't care too much for the neglected brother storyline, but this fic is exceptional imo because it makes the most of this particular plot idea. Harry tries very hard to move past all the neglect he experienced and his own bitterness and hopelessness that results from it. He actually struggles with it, and sometimes he loses. That's brilliantly developed. The petrification of James (at least I think that he's just petrified) will probably be a turning-point for him - not for his family.

I also love the creepy feeling the author managed to create. You just sense that something fishy is going on, without being able to put the finger on it. Daniel's Dudley-style behaviour comes from his own insecurities imo. I think that deep down, he realizes that his brother is the real thing. That's why he feels he has to do everything in his power to steal every possible bit of recognition from Harry.

I found this chapter to be lacking but I guess it was meant to show that Harry is still weak in comparison to Dumbledore and Voldemort. I found Voldemort to be ooc, but hopefully the plot is starting to pick up.

 

What is an in character Voldemort really...? The only in character voldemort I can think of would be cannon voldemort and really how impressive is he? He's speachtastic...and often defeated by a boy wizard whos really nothing spectacular 98% of the time.

An ooc voldermort is usually a good thing for a harry potter fic.

God knows how many times I've read a story where Voldemort's an idiotic power-mad megalomaniac... being outwitted by harry's ingenious and innovative use of muggle logic and technology.

This voldemort seems in character for how he has appeared throughout the fic. Calm and manipulative... but not too much so. He still has those moments of fury and anger...

This Voldemorts nothing spectacular compared to some other voldemorts I've read( As a character I mean) but he's definetley not the worst.
