    TMNT.
People can try to placate the masses all they want by trying to say, "But Bay isn't all that involved; he's only a producer."

Well, when his name is the first thing you see...

Some people are grousing about William Fichtner, the white businessman/scientist(?), playing Shredder, but I don't know... If they go with the Shredder = alien in robot body route, it could be that it's just another spare body, the ultimate disguise.

Or completely not that at all, whatsoever.

Maybe the Joker robbing his bank made him go nuts and become the Shredder... :sherlock: (It's all that remains of a secretly planned TMNT/Batman crossover that would have starred Bale and Ledger. Yeah...)

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating, of course. Fox and Bay don't bode well, but you never know. <- That's me trying to maintain optimism because I'm much more attached to the idea of the Turtles doing well than I ever was about the Transformers.

They looked huge. Mikey looked a little weird, but I guess they're trying to make the turtles look a bit more human.
With the ultimate goal of it all being less weird when a turtle starts slamming it to some human woman in the sequel, upon which time Peter Laird's head will explode, devastating the eastern seaboard. :fire

Barely any Raphael and Donatello in that trailer. I don't mind Leo being front and center, though, because he's my main man. I hope that, against all odds, this thing is good.

Christ, though, what did Fox do to merit another big franchise?

I'm guessing that other studios are busy with their own successful stuff?

 Huh... Talk about (unintentional?) double endtendres.

    Maybe Bay likes her?

Probably not her biggest fan, given that she compared him to Hitler...

    Lucy.

Scarlett Johansson in Luc Besson's film. The premise is similar to Limitless, but then it takes it up to eleven making it a different kind of fun.

That looks ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome, but ridiculous nonetheless.

"It is estimated that humans only use 10% of their brain's capacity."

We stopped believing radiation could make giant ants and mutant demigods around the time we understood how radiation really worked. Why people are still making science fiction based on a viral e-mail myth that's over a decade old is beyond me.

I remember reading a story or something where this guy found a way to do that "use 100% of his brain" thing, and he had to be hooked up to life support machines because he now had to consciously breath, digest his food, regulate his body temperature and all that stuff that's usually automatic for you and he'd frequently fuck up and nearly kill himself. Since he spent all of his time doing that he was basically useless. Don't remember where I found that but I thought it was kind of a funny subversion.

I'd be willing to let it slide if it wasn't for the fact that Hollywood has been totally fucking over fantasy as a genre for the past ten years and just pumping out science fiction flick after science fiction flick.

If you're going to tell magic and wizards and dragons to fuck off, at least have the decency to make something quality. I'm not going to have any patience for shit-tier sci-fi that would have been barely passable a concept a decade ago. I want to see something that looks like a cross between Titanfall and Ghost in a Shell, not a bunch of fantasy that's handwaved into being science fiction for the flimsiest of fucking reasons because you're too goddamn lazy to do the research and expect your audience to be a bunch of Michael Bay fans that are fine with anything so long as it has flashing lights and fancy effects, and includes dialogue that sounds like something from the Big Bang Theory.

I'm going to stop now before I bring up the Doctor Strange thing again. I doubt anyone wants to watch me rant for days.

Just assume that every Hollywood s-f movie is a fantasy movie unless otherwise proved. And if you don't then you probably should avoid watching Godzilla this summer. ;)

I could give two shots and a fuck what Godzilla's origin story is. I'm not gonna be watching that movie for the plot.

Sigh. Probably for the same reason people enjoy any other movie with a premise that couldn't ever happen in real life... to be entertained.
