Honestly, Godzilla being sent by aliens to pacify/terraform Earth is a much more interesting plot than Gozilla accidentally being created by us because radiation. I'm completely okay with that. I'm also completely okay with it being a disaster movie that focuses on people. This isn't like Michael Bay's Transformers, where the Transformers, while not human, are nonetheless people in their own right, and neglecting their characters for the humans is a huge slap to the face. While Godzilla does have a character, historically, he also really doesn't need it. Godzilla (and all other kaijuu) work perfectly fine without any character development or personality whatsoever.

This looks to be a return to the core roots of the idea, wherein Godzilla is an unstoppable and uncontrollable walking natural disaster. I couldn't be more for that idea.

 

Saw Cap 2 last night. Epic epicness was epic.

 

So, basically someone in the film made a drug that turns Scarlett Johansson into... well, from what the trailer shows, a demigoddes? You know what, I think I prefer Limitless.

As for Amazing Spidey 2... we've already had a Spiderman film with three villains fighting for screentime. Remember how that turned out?

Based on the book by Dean Koontz, it's about a guy that sees ghosts and demons. I'd put the style of the movie in a similar vein as the Mummy Movies.

Odd Thomas leading dude = one of the guys from Margin Call? Damn good movie.

A million ways to die in the west looks like a blast from the trailer. I want to know which Native American tribe it is that translates "Fine, fine" into "Milakunis, milakunis." High hopes for this.

Also, on the topic of Lian Neeson, Non-Stop utterly sucked. Third act just blew the whole film for me.

Saw Noah today. Still trying to make up my mind about it overall, but there's a lot of stuff to like about it. I'm not sure Russell Crowe has ever been better, the look of it is staggering (particularly the creation story), and it makes you think, although whether you spend more time pondering the moral and religious questions it raises or the logic of certain scenes and characters will probably be a matter of personal preference.

 

I've watched Battle of the damned. I kinda liked it. Is it a good movie? Fuck no, but Dolph Lundgren is in it and he's awesome.

Captain America 2 was a damn solid action movie. Felt it knew exactly what it wanted to be and pulled that off very well. A lot like The Avengers.

 

I never read the books, but I get the feeling that the books are a lot better? And by similar to The Mummy movies, I meant it had that same supernatural/horror feel but also possessed a dry humor that kept the audience from getting scared or what not.

 

I'll admit to watching Noah because Emma Watson and Jennifer Connely were in it.

Was not expecting the Russell Crowe master class. He was gritty, dark and basically broken. I loved it.

On top of all that, add in the heavy incestual connotations and everyone on this forum would love it.

 

I thought Noah was boring as shit. It was advertised as this gritty, realistic, action-packed retelling, but it ended up being a standard morally-superior bible story, chock full of inexplicable magic, angels, and visions from God.

That said, Crowe was excellent.

 

Realistic? Lol

 

Because of that advertising I wanted to avoid it. But if it's as you say, I might want to see it, if not at the theater then on Blu-Ray later.

Why you would want "gritty and realistic," and why you would wonder why there would be angels and visions from God in a story about Noah's Ark, is beyond me.

 

I only went to see it in the first place because it was being advertised as a bible story sans copious amounts of religious connotation. The trailers were jam packed with big-ass battles, Emma Watson's fantastic eyebrow waggling, and Russel Crowe teaching BAMF 101.

My mistake.

 

The books, especially the first, are far far better. The humor in Odd Thomas did not detract from the creepiness of the book. It added to it. Even if the first is kinda ruined, I recommend you go and read them. They are awesome.
