Blegh. That's a straight up butchery of my early childhood right there. What's next... a real life adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon? (oh wait that would be awesome)

It does make me hopeful that we'll soon see movie adaptations/remakes of more deserving children's books:
    • Danny - Champion of the World
    • Madeline
    • Tuesday
    • Phantom Tollbooth
    • Dinosaur Bob / anything and everything William Joyce has ever written

Wasn't there a Madeline movie already?

Jack Black is doing a Goosebumps movie, which is probably the only book i read before 10.

Fox and DOFP changed Quicksilver's name to Peter. Why are they even including him?

    Another Edge of Tomorrow trailer.

I'm giving it 50/50 chance that they will change the ending of the novel, but if that's the price for a good time loop badassery movie then I don't mind.

I'm a bit worried that it looks like one of those trailers that contains every good bit of the movie.

Yeah... Then again, his movies are generally pretty damn decent. I really, really want it to be as awesome as it might be. Guess we'll see.

Just saw the new Godzilla movie. Frankly? Too much humans. Too little Kaiju wrecking shit up. And too little Godzilla in a Godzilla movie. Strong 3+/5.

Parts in Japan were good. Then the action went to America and it got boring with time being wasted by showing US Army trying - and failing - to stop Godzilla or M.U.T.O.'s. Insted of that, they should show Godzilla fighting with Kaiju.

Every fight - except the finale - is teased and shown through a TV screen, so we see jack shit. Oh, and the finale is also short, because fucking humans carying a nuke are more important than moterfucking giant monsters!

In comparison to Pacific Rim, this movie is subpar. It only teases, and doesn't deliver on promises of epic fights. And yes, I know that, in almost every Japanese Godzilla movie, the fights are short - in comparison to the rest of the movie - but they are properly epic, lenghty and they deliver. This one, lacks it.
It doesn't mean that this movie is bad or unwatchable. It just... decent. As I said, stron 3+/5.

Disagree. Overexposure of the monsters isn't a good thing.

The first time you see him breathe fire and the 'climax' at the end sent shivers down my spine.

You know why it was so potent? Because I wasn't seeing it every 5 minutes.

The movie truly captures the whole 'humanity are mere ants before these primordial gods' feel.

They're almost like a continuous natural disaster raging on throughout while the humans futilely scamper about.

Too much of that would just make it stale and cheapen it.

I felt like it was unfocused. There wasn't really any message, which is what made the original so popular in the first place. Maybe the dangers of nuclear weapons aren't quite as big a deal as they were back in the 50's, but I think there's still room for something there.

That scene where Godzilla first appears and it cuts to flashes of a fight on a TV screen was dumb. It's kind of like, that was the build-up to the monster fights, then it just backed off instead of delivering properly. Really the middle portion kind of dragged on some. They delivered with the end fight though. The nuclear breath was very well done.

The human portions weren't too bad. The main character was better than most other protagonists from these kind of movies, but he and his dad were the only really interesting ones. Dr. Serizawa wasn't very well utilized -- for most of the movie he just had the same confused/awestruck expression on his face. And the military people were of course just archetypes, not real characters. But Ford was good enough that I wasn't bored with the whole thing. I'd probably give it a 3/5 or maybe a 3.5/5. Certainly better than 1998 Godzilla.

Honestly I think the movie would've been better if it were just about humanity and Godzilla, with no other monsters. A reimagined version of the original, basically. My favorite Godzilla movies are the original and Return of Godzilla from 1984 -- both of which had no other monsters. And yeah, 1998 Godzilla didn't have other monsters either, but that hardly makes up for the problems of that movie.

    Interstellar trailer.

Points for making a wormhole look like it theoretically would instead of an usual vortex.

I am really excited for this, though judging from the trailer it looks like it will concentrate more on drama than the cool parts.

@Hugplx - And showing too little of the monsters is also bad. I agree about the flame part - it was well made and used corectly, but it doesn't address my main issue - of too little screen time for monsters. For me it didn't capture this feel - as you called it "'humanity are mere ants before these primordial gods'" - mostly because of lacks of destruction - most of San Franciso survived - and the part with Godzilla at the very end.
Godzilla laying in rublle for some time and wakeing up after some time takes the feel of unstoppable force of nature. If they wanted to do this - Godzilla falling down - they should go with Destroyah route, kill Godzilla, detonate the bomb in San Franicso - and by it, showing that humans failed - and from the radioactive ruins, Godzilla would emerge. Now that, would show its power as an unstoppable force of nature. And The King of the Monsters.
    @Red Aviary:
I agree about main human character, but IMO he should have died at the end, or his wife should to paralel his familys history from Japan. That would also show that being main characters doesn't prevent you from failing.

@Celestin - Your link jumps to advertisment after the trailer ;) Also, after watching this trailer, I got a very Contact-like vibes from it.

    Fixed.

And I agree though the second part of the trailer had me think of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
