Ditto what Newcomb said. I probably won't make a special effort to see it, but that was a vast improvement over the last trailer. I still don't like what we've seen of Leto's Joker though.

I was out one weekend night in Chicago and restricted from crossing a bridge in Chicago River North due to filming for this movie (which I think I saw early in the trailer). Kinda turned me off it, but Queen is fantastic, so now my chances of seeing it are way higher.

Also, I can't see Joker being anything but the bad guy, nor Harley Quinn being anything but on Joker's side, so I'm interested in how that works out.

Also, Will Smith. How the mighty have fallen.

What has he fallen from? He's always been in fun movies. SS isn't gonna be some uplifting drama, even though DC looks to be taking the grimdark approach to their CU. Will was in MIB, Bad Boys. He was in After Earth for Pete's sake. SS will probably rake in lots of money and Will will have another successful movie in his box office tally.

He's not a main focus of the film though, but a part of larger assembly. When was the last time that happened to him?

Pretty sure he's still the movie's 'safety'. The one supposed to draw people and inspire benefit of the doubt where the rest of the cast and the (lack of) revealed plot would not.

RDJ wasn't the main focus of the Avengers either. I don't see how being in an assembly cast demeans Will Smith. I just don't see this fall here.

Watched The Big Short and it was a really great movie with great actors,a really interesting storyline and a nice dose of humour (especially the explanations of the various financial deviates are pure genius).

RDJ wasn't a big star actor before he became Iron Man and Avengers are rather odd assembly film since most characters were already the main stars of the own productions. A better example would be a situation where a first Mission: Impossible has Tom Cruise as just another agent on a team instead of being the main character.

That said Republic is right about his purpose in this film. It's just that few years ago if this film was a TV show it would be 'starring Will Smith and everybody else' and today it's 'starring everyone else with this once famous guy'. ;)

I disagree that this shows a decline in Smith's marketability, fame, or whatever. I think it's rather that DC wants to start bringing in big names for roles in their CU, and since Deadshot has always been one of (if not the) the most central figures in the Suicide Squad, it makes sense that they'd give the spot to him.

Smith wants a piece of the Superhero pie, and frankly I don't see many other roles of the DCCU (or even MCU) that he could have taken that are more central that Deadshot will be in SS.

Not 2016, but first footage of Wonder Woman was released. Still not really convinced in Gal Gadot's acting ability but those shots look good. Really wanted Chris Pine to be Hal Jordan but oh well.

I'm liking what little they showed. Making it WWI instead of WWII is a good choice in my opinion because it's not as overused and because (correct me if I'm wrong) it has strong ties with women's suffrage movement.

Diana's Clark Kenting was amusing too. :)

I just know that my deep-rooted hatred of Steve Trevor will make me hate this movie.

There's not enough to judge yet, though it appears they're going full origin story, which I suppose is fine/expected. We'll see if they can pull it off sufficiently.

Since he wasn't a big part of the Wonder Woman mythos in the post-Crisis DC Universe and only started to show up regularly in the New 52 I can't say I have much opinion about him. What made you hate him?

And to write something about 2016 films, Deadpool had a surprising screening recently and apparently it delivers. The question remains if enough people will actually watch it for it to get a sequel.

Hm? Are you sure? I didn't read a lot of WW comics before The New 52, but it was my understanding that he was rather prominent in many of them. My hatred of him stems mostly from what glimpses of him I've caught in various media, mostly comics. I'm not saying he's a bad character, just that I don't like his role as (often times) liaison and love interest.

I wasn't an avid follower but I read random comics (and the rare cartoon appearance) here and there where he appears.
    But yeah, mostly New 52.

Don't get me started on the New 52. I will derail this thread faster than a bombed bullet train.

I would actually like to hear a bit about that, Rep. If you are talking about Steve Trevor of course. I think the only thing I ever saw him was in Geoff Johns' Justice League (not the one he was in). But I think that given this is a WWI movie he could be a pretty different character.

Also, I love Lois and Clark in a relationship as much as any other DC fan. However, Amy Adams' Lois? Not feeling it tbh. Maybe they'll try to introduce the New 52 of a romance between Superman and Wonder Woman. I sincerely hope not though

Maybe I simply missed his bigger appearances in that era? I remember that he was a lot more older than Diana and there was no romance between them, only friendship.

And if you want to complain about 52 I suppose we could start a thread for DC Comics. There is enough to complain about that it wouldn't become one of these deserted threads with only an initial post. ;)

Them using in-game dialogue for this movie makes me a little worried for this movie.

You're not talking about the video right? Because that's fan made.

Yeah. Upon further research it is. I thought it was legit since there were multiple postings of it that didn't state as such. Oh well, at least there's some interesting footage in them? I'm pretty sure that isn't fanmade at least.

I can't wait for it, but I fear for it too. I wonder what percentage of the audience is kids for superhero movies. I imagine it's pretty freaking high, which is why I fear.

I desperately hope it succeeds, because while I think i'll love Deadpool, I'm dying for an R-rated Wolverine movie.

News is the funniest scenes in Deadpool are between Deadpool, Colossus and Warhead btw.

Speaking of superhero movies. What's everyone most excited for this Superhero filled year?

Personally, I'm most excited for Strange. Never read the comics so it'll be entirely new for me, the cast is bonkers good and I'm kinda hoping Cumberbatch channels House (given what I've heard about the character).
