I'm just actively rooting for Warcraft to fail at this point. It just seems like they've taken all the worst bits of the WOW visuals and put it on-screen with a poor script to boot.

 

From the dialogue it seems like they're playing it straight and serious, but wrap it in ridiculous looking CGI orcs (because c'mon they're fucking ridiculous), cheap-thrill action visuals and dubstep.

Substance completely not fitting the form. I want it to bomb so hard.

It looked fine to me. More of the same that we've seen up to now. I still like it.

 

I don't want it to fail. Warcraft lore is great fun, and I sank years of my life into WoW. That said, the story and aesthetics in these trailers have killed any and all hype I had. If it does end up being as joyless as it looks, I'll probably end up wishing it simply didn't exist.

 

I'll go see it purely for Ragnar. Motherfucking shield wall up in this bitch.

True. Mage effects look both cool and sufficiently fantastical. Guldan looked super cool, too.

 

Playing Garona, one of many characters constantly retconned. Originally she was an orc/human hybrid because of the lengthier timeline with WC1 and WC2, she later got redone as a draenei/orc hybrid.

 

Garona Halforcen? I just got her as a follower in WoW. I wonder if they'll scrap the half-Draenai part for the movie universe

 

The Warcraft movie must be successful.

If it is, then it will show Hollywood that videogame movies are profitable in this day and age.

Perhaps then we'll get that goddamn Half-Life movie we've been promised.

 

The problem with videogame movies so far isn't necessarily that they haven't been successful. It's that they've all been bad.

 

To be honest, I feel like video games are so much like movies anyway (especially nowadays) that making actual movies of them just feels unnecessary. It's not like adapting something like a book or a comic.

About video gamo movies, I enjoyed Prince of Persia, but its rooting in the game ended at the Sands of Time. Keeping my fingers crossed for Assassin's Creed.

A new trailer for the next Bourne movie just came out. I have to say I really look forward to this one, all Bourne movies have been great so far. I thought that Jeremy Renner was suppoed to feature in it, but I just read that he won't. Hopefully, his storyline gets its own sequel.
