Just got back from Jungle Book. Utterly loved it.

the ending in this film is way better than the original cartoon's one too

Walken singing I Wanna Be Like You (one of my all time favs) was a bit of a downer though.

The Jungle Book was so, so good. I have no complaints about it whatsoever. I also dig the ending where he
    stays in the jungle.

And, that Shere-Khan boss fight in the red flower burned brush was glorious

You wanna put a spoiler tag on that info about whether or not he leaves the jungle? Seems like spoiling the end of a character's development. MonkeyEpoxy

So, wait, there's this version of The Jungle Book which is basically like the old Disney movie, and then another one that's coming out in a couple years? Weird.

Next year. That one is based more on the folk tale the disney movie is based on. More gritty.

Kinda unrelated but there's a bug going on with AMC Stubs membership renewal if anyone has it. They're giving an extra year of membership, so 2 years for the price of 1. Stacks with a $5 reward back promo, which essentially means $7 for 2 years of Stubs.

I'm not sure if it works on new memberships however.

The role has instead gone to Alicia Vikander, who is probably a better actress, but Ridley looked a bit more like Lara to me. Eh.

That's great news, actually. I loved Ex_Machina and Alicia is awesome tbh.

She's not someone I'd have thought of for the role, but she's a great actress and can probably pull it off. Although I don't think it's the casting that's going to make or break that film, it will come down to the writing/directing and how well they manage to adapt the story.

I wonder if they are going to base it on the reboot or the original. Knowing life, probably the reboot.

The only thing I find weird about the Vikander Tomb raider casting is that she's Swedish and I've yet to see her in a movie where she's used a British accent (only seen her in Ex Machina and Man from U.N.C.L.E.). Obviously that's never stopped a Tomb Raider film before, but I feel like there were dozens of qualified British actresses who could have taken the part. Still, it could have been a lot worse.

Has anyone else seen The Green Room? (Red Band Trailer) It's about a punk band that witnesses a crime while playing at a neo-nazi bar/compound. They get trapped in the titular green room and shit hits the fan. Stars Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, and Imogen Poots and is directed by Jeremy Saulnier (who directed the really good flick Blue Ruin). I saw it today and I really, really liked it. Besides the obviously great cast, it's really well shot and brutally intense.

She was pretty convincingly English in Testament of Youth, I'm sure she can pull off the accent. She can definitely pull off British better than Angelina Jolie.

I always thought Angelina Jolie did a pretty good job with her British accent, it sounded quite natural to me. It wandered around the country a little but a real accent picks up a mix of different inflections, it had enough of a private school lilt to show where she came from. Considering how much she traveled it would be kind of weird if her accent was cut glass upper crust in its entirety.

I always felt Angelina Jolie was perfect for the role. If only the script hadn't been utter garbage. Alicia Wikander... Well, I'm totally on board with this. :D
