It felt somewhat like a really long episode of Star Trek... with the '09 characters. Not bad imo.

You thought so? I felt the opposite. It was like 95% action sequences. The only thing that really screamed Trek to me was the playful character interactions.

Saw the Killing Joke, the DC animated movie and it's pretty terrible. The Killing Joke was never the best story, but they made it significantly worse with the first 20 mins being focused on thoroughly shitting all over Batgirl and Batman, especially Batgirl.

    1/5, regret watching it.

That's how my Dad and I both felt about it as well. An overtly long, sorta forgettable, but definitely enjoyable Star Trek episode.

Also, the first trailer sound track now makes total sense (even if it is still a bit weird).

Disney's Moana (imdb), release date 23 November 2016.

Maybe it's because I'm not part of the target audience, but I can't see anything endearing in that trailer, that makes me want to watch the movie.

I'm looking forward to seeing it purely for the Lin-Manuel music.

Yeah, the changes they made in an effort to fix Batgirl's treatment in the original comic wound up just making everything ten times worse.

Yeah, a comic where she only shows up to be the designated victim with no roll in the story other than for her suffering to cause angst for The Men is bad. A film that spends thirty minutes making her awful and unlikable, then has her be a designated victim with no further role in the story other than make The Men feel bad is worse. Much, much worse.

About my take as well. It might not have been as deep, philosophical or epic as the best of Trek, but it was fairly fun and engaging. It never left me bored, upset, or unhappy.

@Moana, idk, I found it endearing and somewhat compelling. Doubt I'll give money to see it but it looks good, and I'll probably look it up when it comes out online or on blu-ray.

I'd rate it a tiny bit higher, maybe a 2.5/5 would be the max I'd give it. I actually liked the source material quite a bit, and had very high hopes for TKJ. The parts that stuck to the comic were well done, but the parts added for the sole purpose of having a feature length film were for the most part a disappointment. Didn't see the point in making Batgirl so unlikable, when we are supposed to feel that what happened to her was a tragedy and a motivator for Batman and Gordon's actions. Hopefully they do a better job adapting The Judas Contract.

I depends what you mean by that. Other than very basic structure and a twist with Terra, not much more can be adapted. It's a rather different Teen Titans team and DCAU Deathstroke has only history with Damian. That said, it could be a good adaptation in spirit, if not in its faithfulness to the source material.

Went to see The BFG this afternoon. Both the leads were great, animation was outstanding, and overall it was very charming and pretty funny.

Star Trek Beyond was fantastic. It is a solid science fantasy action movie (but as others have said, not necessarily a good star trek movie).

The director is fantastic at grand scope scenes, and it shows with his visuals. I really want to see more collaborations by, Doug Jung, Simon Pegg and Justin Lin in the future, because the team that came up with the beastie boys sequence needs to make movies for the next hundred years. I'm probably being superlative here, but that scene was one of the funniest, craziest most eye pleasing and just satisfying to watch action scenes I've had the great pleasure to watch. It made no sense, but at that point I was just having so much fun I didn't care.

I just got back from "Jason Bourne" and despite the not so good reviews that this movie has garnered I absolutely loved it. The final fight scene was great and the rest of the story was fast paced enough and interesting that I didn't get tired of it.

I'm just looking for them to do a better job turning a well known storyline into a film. If they alter the story in a way that it fits the DCAU but still has the same basic plot, and do very little else, that would be a decent film right there. At least DC shouldn't run into the same problem they had with TKJ of a lack of source material. TJC arc has four books and therefore a lot more content if I remember correctly, so there should be less of the filler that dragged TKJ down so much. Guess we just have to hope for the best.

Funny, the fast pace is probably my biggest issue with the film. It didn`t feel like a bad movie and I absolutely loved what they did with the female CIA agent/boss but to me everything felt a bit too hurried and some of the plotlines not well enough connected or even unnecessary (I mean why the hell did the have to include that Facebook copy if it had very little actual impact on the story?).

I thought this too. I think the movie would have been more interesting if it kept the audience mostly in bourne's perspective: leave the facebook copy in the story, but take out any overt references or scenes related to it until bourne finds out about it.

It would seem out of left field, but that mimicks in a way bourne's start as an agent: he was told to kill someone he never met before, someone whose crimes were unknown and possibly nonexistent. Now as a reverse, he has to save someone he doesn't know, from the same organization that made him.

Just got back from Kubo and the two strings. Fantastic movie. The animation was incredible throughout, as well as phenomenal music.
