Independence Day was an incredibly corny movie, but I just love it. It's a guilty pleasure definitely. I'm so hyped for the sequel.... but no Mr.Smith? Or we will get another great acting from Junior?

I'm unreasonably excited for that movie, which is a terrible idea...

The setting kinda makes no sense. Those 20 years would have been a world of suffering caused by a small ice age (those falling ships were big) and the mother of all depressions.

The setting isn't about what would the world be after alien's invasion. It's about what would the world be if the United States of America were recognized as the saviour of the humanity and as was proved in the last film with them in charge nothing is impossible. ;)

Looks like a solid movie. I'm honestly glad that Smith isn't in it, because he would have overshadowed the content of the movie. It happened in I am Legend with Smith, in World War Z with Pitt and every Johnny Depp movie with ...Johnny Depp.

Man, I'm going to sound like such a nerd, but that's got to be the least "Star Trek" Star Trek vibe ever.

You want to do "Buddy cops in space" or whatever, more power to you, but like... come on.

I do love me a melodramatic science fiction movie! I will definitely watch the new Independence Day, such a guilty pleasure though.

It looks fun, but I did keep wondering where the spaceships were.

Preach, brotha. Preach. That said, most of my favorite Trek episodes all take place offship or on the holodeck, so *shrug*.

That may be the whole point of this one, to not be a typical Trek movie, dunno. I think it's the music that totally threw me off the Trek vibe.

Yeah. I've accepted the fact that the new Star Trek movies are moving far away from ethos of the originals. But like. Beastie Boys and Star Trek just do not mix :/

I'm all for franchises trying something a little different, and it's not like I'm a Trek purist by any stretch of the imagination. But if you edited in different uniforms, other than the title there was fuck all to make you think "Oh, it's a Star Trek film!"

Eh. Looks entertaining enough, like I said. And the bit with Bones bitching about being left on his own did make me properly lol, and reinforced my view of Urban being pretty much perfect for Harry Dresden.

I've been ruined by the audio books. If he doesn't sound like James Marsters, he's not Dresden, lol.

I mean I agree and all but... where did that come from?

    Edit: I'm dumb.

...A star trek made by a director who worked on fast and the furious. huh.

I can see why they went for that particular musical callback.

Not sure how I feel about new Stark Trek trailer. Lukewarm, at best.

Read a comment on reddit that it's a Star Trek movie for people who like to beat up people who like Star Trek. Still, we'll see.

Like the majority I'm not a fan of this trailer. Seeing that Justin Lin is involved will probably deter me from even watching the movie (Was not a fan of his Fast and the furious movies). Interestingly I'm pretty sure this Bestie Boys song was used in JJ Abrams' first Star Trek movie.
