I don't particularly like him as a person, but I do think he's a great actor.

I don't know how much of what we hear is tabloid fodder, but i generally mirror this sentiment.

As much as I love the other greats, I don't think there's been a better Action star in my lifetime.

Oh come on. That's not how you spell the name of the one true action star.

I actually enjoyed his last movie, the Benghazi thing, for the brainless popcorn muncher that it is and without any contrived bullshit like plot. I cringed at the "family" themes, but when Mike focused on the muscled badass soldiers blowing shit up, it was fun.

Now I see this and I'm just... Goddamnit, Mike, not again.

Man the late British Empire thing the Mummy movies had was my favourite part of the trilogy. Shame. I also like Brendan despite his many issues.

Most of what we hear about him as a person is tabloid stuff though, or related to his (admittedly pretty out there) religious beliefs.

Most people who've worked with him that I know and/or know of in the industry have nothing but praise for the guy.

    A good story:
In the end, I feel the guy's at the very least an incredibly hard-working actor who gets a lot of hate for stuff that isn't really related to his work. (Cruise has gotten more hate for jumping on Oprah's couch than some industry people have gotten for being actual pedophiles.)

...with all that said, the Mummy trailer doesn't look very appealing to me. Pity, since I've enjoyed pretty much every Cruise film I've seen for the past 8 years at least.

I'll admit I'm not incredibly well-versed in his history, but I'm basing my beliefs of his apparent devotion to Scientology.

You are correct in that my opinions are largely tabloid based, however.

I wasn't trying to have a go at you (or claim the guy's perfect), I just have a weird contrarian compulsion to defend anything I think gets disproportionate hate.

    Like Ron Weasley.

I just let people believe / do whatever they want as long as it doesn't harm anyone.

Which is the problem I have with Scientology, it seems to harm a lot of people. His wives accounts seem particularly conclusive in that respect.

Forget his wives, focus on all the poor sobs born to families in Sea Org. Rehabilitation Project Force is prison by any other name.

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES Trailer (2017)

Have to agree with the Youtube comments. The heavy machinery and weapons the soldiers seem to have seriously stretches my suspension of disbelief regarding any kind of conflict.

    It honestly looks ...dumb.

I can't take any of those movies as seriously as they take themselves.

Teaser trailer for Blade Runner 2049. I am now...tentatively intrigued. They seem to have captured the look of the thing, at least, and it's reminded me that it's directed by Denis Villeneuve, who directed Arrival, which was incredible.

I didn't know it about it previously, just found out. I wonder if it's gonna suck.

Naruto is getting a live-action adaptation from a major Hollywood studio
