Yeah, it’s no secret that the big entertainment corps have been working hard to compromise the objectivity of reviewers and turn them into nothing but an extension of the marketing department. When most movie reviewers work for publications that take advertising money from the corporations making movies and want to maintain the access privileges and perks those corporations offer, it’s hard not to be at least a little compromised.

Jesus fuck the Isekai genre is infiltrating western cinema now.

The premise is ridiculous, but it'll be full of "Hey, I know that thing!" references and that'll make it satisfying enough. I can enjoy mindless stupid action movies. The monsters are just a bonus.

 

It's annoying, because there's no reason for the US military to take a role in the story whatsoever. I know it's probably a franchise that benefits from an outsider being the viewpoint, rather than having an already established character, but going along with the plot of (I think) MHF2, where your character gets wrecked by a Tigrex and loses their stuff in the opening cinematic, only to be found by a local village. You could still have a fish-out-of-water story with that.
