You know, as much of a meme as the guy can be at times, it's very rare that he's not entertaining. I like to make fun of people that are really heavily into the original movie, but then again, I joined the Navy because I read Hunt for Red October when it was new (I was 14 at the time) and thought sonar was awesome.

Now that things have been heating up with Iran, it would be amusing if that Tomcat were from the Pahlavi days instead of being an American plane.

 

There's a theory that the plot is around Iran and their F-14s. Presumably, Maverick is tasked with flying some old F-14 either in an opforce role or to blend in with the Iranian airforce or something.

On one hand, I'm interested; there is plenty of room to tell cool stories in Matrixland. On the other hand, I'm Picard tier facepalming.

Jupiter Ascending, which is perhaps one of the most god-awful movies I've ever had the misfortune to see, really soured me on the Wachowskis. Sense8 S1 sortof helped repair it, but then one of them left the creative team and the show completely fell apart in season 2. This movie is being solo written/directed by the Wachowski responsible for season 2.

 

I mean, they already made and failed at making two Matrix sequels... why would a third be any different?
