My hope is that with Steppenwolf and the response to Wonder Woman one until Ares appeared they’re finally gonna make a good story that doesn’t decimate itself against its own lacklustre antagonist.

I think the single most appealing thing about the trailer is how brightly coloured it is. It has copious slow-mo but I didn’t spot a huge army collides with army shot and everything looks suitably miami vice. I want pastel suits and saved by the bell attire. That’s the most promising thing to me after so long of the teal orange grey hyper-realism schtick they’ve done in everything so far.

Basically, Sony is finally learning from its mistakes.

I would guess that the trailer is first half of the film and as a setup, it works pretty well. The second part is going to be harder, especially when everyone expects the old crew to have a good appearance in it.

It just looks like they're trying to do Stranger Things to me. and not just because they got Finn Wolfhard.

But I've never been a fan of any Ghostbusters iterations so the nostalgia bait wasn't going to work for me anyway. I can see fans embracing this more.

I cannot emphasise enough how much I want this new Ghostbusters to succeed. I'm tentatively hopeful based on the trailer. I'm hoping it ties into the video game, albeit loosely, which is considered pseudo-canon.

Also, anyone else getting the vibe that:

Paul Rudd's character is definitely a villain.

I hope y'all get a good movie. I've never been a fan of Ghostbusters (not dislike, just not a fan) so this would only ping my interest if it's a good standalone movie with ghosts.

Will be interesting to see how people react to it vs Ghostbusters 2016.

"There hasn't been a ghost sighting in 30 years"

So, pretending the reboot doesn't exist, eh

I am definitely expecting that, if it turns out to be well received, we'll see a run of articles along the lines of "New ghostbusters is proof the moviegoing public are all misogynist monsters" or something. Not a doubt in my mind at least a couple of outlets will hop on that outrage train as soon as possible.

Definitely not sure how the public at large will take it though; the trailer makes it seem like a fun movie, but it also doesn't seem like much of a comedy. I was never a huge ghostbusters fan or anything, I watched both of the original movies once and can't hardly remember anything beyond the meme scenes by now, so take this with a grain of salt, but I'm not sure how much actual "ghostbusters" is in that trailer, and that's gonna be what drives public opinion, methinks.

The reboot was - well, a reboot. This is explicitly a continuation of the original films.

I like that they gave the kids Egon hair. That's a nice touch.

I wouldn't be so sure about Sony Pictures 'learning from its mistakes,' lol. Have a gander at the new Charlie's Angels movie that just came out.

This one looks way more interesting anyway. Given the original cast just isn't the same without Harold Ramis, this path is the next best thing imo. Hopefully they pull it off.

Oh, I also adored that there was basically no emphasis on comedy in the trailer. I don't consider the original comedies in the traditional sense, they just starred funny people with great comedic timing.

I'm thinking that's Egon's grandson. His mom is actually there to recover GB stuff after the dad died.

Yeah, I'm actually pretty excited about this. Here's to hoping it will be grand.

Interested in the Ghostbusters Afterlife movie. Having a classic with a more serious cast (also comprised of minors) might make a fun movie.

Yeah I figured out it was implied within and explicitly said after I wrote that reply lol. I had only seen the trailer. Feel a bit stupid now. XD

Aquaman wasn't a success in your eyes? Fans and critics mostly liked it and it made money.

I'm quite looking forward to WW1984. And the music really got to me.

They didn’t like it all that much. It got a 65% on rotten tomatoes and a 75% audience score.

It was basically average. Nothing special really.

    @pbluekan

original quote, "people mostly like it."

you, "it only had a 75% favorable audience score" like that doesn't back up what he said.

    lol

    Fuck critics.
