lol, I love it when people always cite how durable their product is; as if another product that does in fact break when thrown at a concrete wall makes it inferior. That's like saying, "Yeah, you may have a Ferrari, but can you go off-roading/get 50bajillion miles per gallon/haul a tonne of beer and goats/carry 8 fat women to their aerobics class?" I won't lie: the fact that your shit still works is pretty much amazing, but that doesn't mean Apple products suck all.

    Fuck it: it's your opinion:p

On topic: I think the PSP is better for reading files over an extended period of time. My eyes just ache faster when using the iPhone, even after adjusting the brightness. Strange.

That's a misconception, really. The idea that Apple is the "Porsche" or even the Lincoln of Computers/Technology-Relate merchandise.

I use an Nokia N95 for my phone, have an iPod touch and two nanos, have a vaio and a macbook pro and the pro is in the fucking closet as I type this.

Apple is usually 50% more for what is generally either equal or inferior technology. Yes, it runs smoothly. Yes, it is well built (unless you bought a macbook right away and it basically melted your face). But a regular MP3 player and a regular laptop will net you either the same, or more, and in this case, especially, more and better software. More games that are designed with the PC in mind, more software besides Safari or the latest hip-faggot music editor that ships with Apple supplies.

Nevermind the fact that iPhones have to be hacked to get a service you would rather have, at the cost of some of the features on the iPhone. Nevermind that they cost twice as much and most real people who need a good cellphone laugh at the poser-faggots who've snatched them up. It's the same crew you see at Starbucks. Oh wow - good job. You paid four dollars more for coffee that tastes bland, you're probably in debt and you bought an iPod so you could fit in with the latest fad.

So yes, Apple has a problem. Wow - they invented a paper-thin laptop that does jackshit, has poor processing power and is largely useless for anything except documentation and checking email.

They've cornered the market for gimmicky shit.

At least the Nintendo Wii is fun, despite the gimmick. Apple just tends to leave a feeling of "Yeah, I'm an idiot for paying for a piece of shit that I can't customize or expand in the way I want."

See I am on a PC and want to change to a Mac because I fucking hate PC and Microsoft so much.

I'm to much of a fucking idiot about computers to know how to download or use any of the other programmes out their so I'm stuck with Windows, which is so fucking horribal I want to throw my laptop against a wall every 5 minutes. IE which is gets worse with every fucking update they come out with, and a computer that gets louder and slower by the second dispite only doing generic web surfing on it (I use the other computer for porn and shit).

So I dont care if Mac is shit because I doubt it could be worse than the cluster fuck that is PC/Microsoft.

Really? Hmm...can't say it's happened to me. I think a new update just came out for it though. Have you tried that?

@mbond: Over-compensating am I? Who went to the trouble of making that picture?

@Justblaise: Maybe, but I wouldn't trust an apple product as far as I could throw it. ;) I'm pretty tough on phones and shit so I need something that's damn near invincible. I went through two i-pod screens in a month (not to mention the damn thing freezing all the time) before I got my Creative Zen, and I've had that over a year and a half now with no problems.

I'm pretty I've got the latest update, or it would be bugging the hell out of me everytime I load it up. My guess is that it's some other problem with my comp.

It's not just you, my Firefox 3 takes forever to start up to, and sometimes even hangs if you try to use it too soon after it pops up.

Expensive Mac laptop? 2-3k. Expensive Gateway? 50k.

But, then again, cheap Mac laptop: 1k, and can double-boot. Cheap Gateway: $300, but can barely boot Vista.

    Plus, it looks awesome.

MacBook Air. $1,099. Double boot. MacOS Leopard & Vista Home Basic. Touchpad mouse. Cool fingerstrokes to use everything really fast.

    IBM's Equivalent:

Levovo X61. Was 'leaked' right after the Air commercials started. $1,070. Tablet - which, I admit, is really cool. Vista Home Basic. Red dot mouse. Ugly as sin, but good for corporate stuff.

For only $29 more, you get the sleek Air, with that crappy Vista OS if you need it, although without the Tablet.

I've also seen a Sony imitation, but it was only released in Asia.

P.S. Oz: Trouble? You've never used Gimp. (Yes, I admit; as big an Apple user as I am, I am not currently in possession of one. I'm on an old IBM w/ Ubuntu 7 and a battery life of 10 minutes.)

And, since Macs are so light and aerodynamic, you don't need to trust it how far you can throw it. They'll go really far, and survive, too.

Funny, says on the Apple website that the Macbook Air starts at $1899.

So for $1899 you get a laptop with a 1.6 Ghz processor - but it's really sleek and cool.

    Lol.

    Well, yeah.

That's the whole appeal of Apple products. They put so much more effort into design than competitors because they've realized that aesthetic appeal is much more effective in selling products to the masses than technical superiority.

And thus far, it seems to be incredibly effective.

I was looking at laptops the other day and while the Lenovo series is supposed to be great for practical use, it's just so... ugly. Especially when compared to a Macbook (which I'm beginning to lean towards).

So anyways, don't underestimate the power of "sleek and cool". :D

What? This has nothing to do with friends, and everything to do with self-preference.

    Let me simplify my argument:

    Humans like pretty things.
    Macbooks are pretty.
    Therefore humans like Macbooks.

    It's a human nature thing.

IBMs are for corporations. MacBooks are for you.

Plus, I hate Microsoft. I wouldn't use a Microsoft machine for anything other than games, and even then I wouldn't admit it in real life. Not that I can anyway, with that stupid NVidia driver that fails every time I boot my would-be game machine.

Even my friends that are Bill Gates incarnate, have started to falter.

Generally against turning threads into mindless picture spam, but the fanboy levels in here are getting disgusting and that adequately conveys my thoughts well.

The MacBook air is pretty much useless. Big fucking whoop, they created a thin notebook. That's easily done by any of the PC corporations, Sony, IBM, etc. Except, guess what? They include optical drives in their laptops. They don't throw it away and call it obsolete, because "YOU CAN JUST USE ITUNES TO DOWNLOAD LOLOLOL!"

So that's why the Macbook Air is a complete pile of shit, mbond.

You, sir, are an idiot. The one of the most expensive home computers I can come up with is in the $25k range, and that's using solid state disks. When has ANYTHING that Gateway made $50,000? Go check out an Alienware laptop, those are just about as expensive as you get, and those only run up around $6000 or so.

You've been proven to be wrong on the price of the MacBook Air, which is significantly more expensive than the IBM Lenovo X61, even with student discounts. I had a IBM Thinkpad at one point and I loved that thing, thus not just for corporations.

"Not that I can anyways" so fix it. If your driver isn't working, then boot into safemode and change out the driver.

Apple makes great products, this is not in doubt. It's just for sleek and cool, you're paying a ton more. Quit being a fanboi and just

    STFU ALREADY. kthx
