I found out that Valheim has a Nexus mod page so I got sucked into using a bunch that really smooth things over for me, so no checking out the servers here for me unfortunately.

That said apparently mods do work if everyone uses the same mods with the same values so that's cool.

 

The one hard point of working on a server is all the loot is pre taken. I have only found 1 beenest and 5 cores as everything is looted.

 

Nice! I’m working my way to full bronze before taking him out. Likely another day.

 

Fucking cooper mining. I keep getting yeeted by trolls.

 

I discovered the AI for trolls can't find a path to you if you excavate the vein before cracking it. I clear out the dirt and create myself a little moat about two or three bodies wide. If a troll comes along, you can stand in the middle of your copper vein and shoot arrows at it for free.

 

Also a tip in case anyone doesn't know about them, shooting trolls in the head can stagger them.

 

It's amazing how much armor upgrades help. Bronze kit will let you go toe-to-toe with a troll for a bit actually if you don't get snuck up on. Which I definitely don't, no sirree, not ever.

 

Reading the Valheim reddit, apparently terraforming is the main form of lag and FPS drop. I had noticed around our main bases I have started to get stutters. Fires are well can cause it in heavy clusters.

 

Welp, that road I built towards the Black Forest from my encampment is probably contributing towards the jank.

 

I am super super enjoying this game. Just having a pleasant time figuring out how building works, and getting killed.

Wish me luck on turning my shitshack into a DromeHome ;D

 

My only complaint is your access to basic building materials is limited severely in early game.

Also fuck trolls.

 

Trolls exist solely to make sure you can archery-kite effectively. Burning arrows are your friend.

I started over on a new seed now that I thought I kind of know what I'm doing a little more, and made my homestead a bit too close to a mountain. Found out how nasty wolves are the hard way, and got caught in a death loop, where finally the poor thing danced over my fire-pit a few too many times while tea-bagging me and finally gave up the ghost. I immediately had to go get more wood to fix all the stuff it gnawed to pieces, and promptly tree-killed myself. Twice.

Good times, excellent game, 10/10.

 

One of my top gaming moments was plowing a long boat into shore to fight a troll raid and save a fellow Vikings base.
