I found this linked on the HPfanfic reddit, and I feel like it does a pretty good job of going over the Daphne Greengrass phenomenon -- only thing left out is the link to Fem!Blaise, but that's mentioned in one of the comments:

Something very wrong about Daphne as fem!Draco. I can see how an argument could be made, but eww.

Wonder if there's something to learn there, like whether I hate Snarry because of unresolved feelings regarding a Malfoy of my own...sigh

 

First of all, The-Play-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named is NOT canon and I will stand by that to my grave. Had to get that off my chest...
Second of all, until a few years ago I never even knew about this girl - fanfics tend to offer you awesome stories but most of the time we get these kind of.....things.... If I even see the name Daphne Greengrass I automatically dismiss the story, no questions asked. I can't quite get rid of the suspicion that this character is a self insert of the author. I hate self insert characters.
