Ok, so I have a potential way for someone to Apparate to a moving heli-carrier. It takes a bit of creative interpretation, and following this logic means that a wizard can't Apparate to a location he hasn't been to or is familiar with, but bear with me.

We know that wizards don't use math all that much and aren't all that familiar with geography, right? Latitude, longitude and altitude. So their definition of the first D of Disapparition, Destination, isn't so much a series of coordinates, but rather landmarks. "Inside the hoop in front of me" rather than "Three feet West-South-West." Following that logic, if the Destination in mind was "the Office of Nick Fury on board the Helicarrier", that's where he would appear, regardless of where the Helicarrier was at the time, barring excessive distances.

There is entirely too much fuss being made about an itchy eye patch. Just because something is itchy for a few minutes doesn't mean that you go out and toss it. It didn't say the eye patch would be itchy forever. My guess it that it was just a way to clue you in on what he cast the spell on and that it was just meant to be the result of the initial casting not something that would last.

On the issue of apparition to the helicarrier, why don't we all just go with a well established method of sorting out HP mechanics?

    It's magic. Deal with it.

This story's Harry is older, better trained, and a far cry more powerful and creative than any teenage iteration. I'm pretty damn sure he could apparate to the helicarrier unless it was on the opposite side of the planet.

Wouldn't using magic aboard the hellcarrier crash it?

In canon, magic has been used around electric-powered stuff with little to no adverse effects. It's always been my understanding (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that magic doesn't play well with electricity when directly used on something powered. You don't see wizards casting spells in the street and causing blackouts for the block.

A notable exception (from the movies at least) is when accidental magic goes apeshit and the lights in the house start flickering.

Also: Whoever tagged this as 'suspiciously awesome' should treat themselves to a nice cookie. I laughed quite a bit.

Eh, I was just giving the portkey spell a minute to cast to help downplay it a bit since some people consider it OP for the story. I personally couldn't care either way.

Thus far the only real influence has been Harry using magic directly on electronic stuff or it going along when he goes apparating and the like. I don't think it's quite as bad as Dresden's ... troubles.

Err, no. Even if magic does have a weird effect on electricity, I doubt anything Harry would or could do would do more than shut down a small area around him. That thing is huge.

On magic's effects, I agree with Sin.

Right - the reason that stuff's failing on Harry is either he's using magic on himself or in very close vicinity of electronic stuff, or he's apparating with them. On the carrier he'd normally maybe make a bulb flicker or perhaps destroy a room if he got really spell-happy, but the entire thing?

'Fucking awesome' and 'Awesomely suspicious' have been added at time of writing. :nyan:

FYI, by, "suspiciously awesome" I meant that I reserve my doubts that something so awesome can stay so awesome. I keep expecting the other figurative shoe to drop. So far it hasn't.

Every time I read new chapters, I read it with the same suspicious look I would use at a dog suddenly approaching me out in the street. Or the one I use when my girlfriend says we need to talk about something.

Now, comparing fanfiction updates to a dog or your girlfriend make me wonder about your life... And what a shrink would think about it.

I use it to tag stories I think are worthy of the moniker. It's like a personal 5-star list.

IMHO, the tag *It's magic deal with it* made a greater impression in my *oh lawl o-meter* than the two others.

Sorry, the current chapter's about half-way done right now and as such may be released late today or tomorrow.

    Cheers.

Okay even the debates on apparition and portkeys were more useful than that post.

I personally never thought I would see the day when a fanfiction author would say sorry for not updating on a daily basis. I feel like I've entered the Twilight Zone. Most authors only update once a month if you are extremely lucky.

I'm curious if Harry will ever get himself a place to stay. He could feasibly use it to go to when he wants to be left alone with the right charms applied. Personally, I'd like to see a scene with Harry eating Shawarma just because then we would know who recommended the place to Tony in the Avengers.

We are a greedy bunch, aren't we? I guess the old aphorism "Don't feed the bears," applies to DLPers, too.

That's complete bullshit; I don't know where you come up with this stuff.

Uh... you gonna eat that?

    Nobody recommended the place.

If you look carefully, when Tony's getting beaten around in NYC, there's a shawarma place he lands by in one of the backgrounds. He basically noticed it while flailing through the air, and got curious.
