I don't know about HP magic, but Hulk does get stronger from having dark magic used against him.

HP Magic isnt Dark Magic. Transfiguration and the like is changing the very reality around their opponents.

Alright, I'm just going to post a quote of my original post that brought up the cheering charm to begin with because I think some people are taking certain things out of context.

The point was that the scene was supposed to be a funny one. Harry and several people were supposed to be getting their asses handed to them and doing everything they can just to stay alive when someone mentions that the Hulk gets his power from being angry and Harry can't believe that after all of the spell he threw at that damn beast a simple relatively useless spell is the one thing that beast is vulnerable to.

The whole scene was supposed to be funny because of how ludicrous the solution was. I was actually picturing the helicarrier fight scene from the Avengers movie when that idea popped into my head.

 

That may be, but canonically (well, greater-Marvelverse canon; not sure about this continuity) the Hulk has some mental resistance that, just like his strength, greatly increases according to how angry he is. So it would make a lot of sense for a very angry Hulk to be able to shrug off Imperio, even though the spell might still work for a mildly-annoyed Hulk (maybe).

I don't see why Harry would stay and fight Hulk. I see it going much like those mercenaries that hunter Banner on the movie, once hulk charges at you, you can either get the hell out of the way or be reduced to pasta. Now, I can see him doing the sensible thing, apparating away and working out a way to trap Hulk safely from a distance.

Of course, that's assuming the two are alone.

How about we let Roarian go as he may instead of trying to feed Hulk wolfsbane. I think he has pretty decent balance right now, Harry doesn't feel overpowered at all. The possibility may be there but I think we should cool our jets.

In all seriousness, though, I think geek debates should be kept to a minimum in other people's story threads. Or, at the very least, the sensible should endeavor to make it so.

 

To be honest though... I do love the fact that these kinds of debates can actually be held without everyone scoffing at it as unimportant - being geeky is not bad.

I'm not entirely convinced yet on which direction I'll go with the Harry/Hulk confrontation but I do appreciate all your input, DLP'ers.

I don't quite get that either. I mean, unless the Hulk's fists are somehow magical, all a fight would involve is Harry casting a shield or impervious charm (after which it's no longer a fight) or getting turned to paste before he can. Neither of which sound particularly interesting reading to me.

I mean you can do what you want, you're the author. I just dun geddit is all.

 

Unless Harry left his wand in his other pants that day, and was surrounded by hundreds of innocents. Then he kind of has to do something, right?

 

If he has no wand then it becomes the 'paste' scenario I would think.
