Still reading, so far I like it, just one small error:

    The charm actually points North.

I'm surprised Fury was as patient and accommodating as he was for those few seconds.

That line with Tony at the end was pretty funny.

Great to see an update. A shame that what happened was everything I was hoping wouldn't. Still, can't win em all.

nip them in the bud is the phrase.

I think you're hot shit flows better, simply for the fact that Fury says fuck in the next sentence.

I'd like to hear what you mean by this, actually. You hoped that Harry and SHIELD would continue to go cat and mouse? 'Cos 'consultant' is pretty flexible. :p

I am curious. What does Harry being a consultant for S.H.I.E.L.D. actually entail? I get that if major shit goes down, such as what happened in The Avengers movie, they will give him a call to come help, and he will then have the option to accept or not. But what are the details? Does he get paid? If so, on what scale? How big of a problem does something have to be for him to be called in? Would S.H.I.E.L.D., let's say, give Harry a call for something as minor as Natasha simply needing a partner for an espionage mission similar to the one she was on at the beginning of The Avengers movie? Or would he only be called for world threatening events?

Basically, I am trying to figure out how closely Harry will be associated with S.H.I.E.L.D. in his capacity as a consultant and how he is going to deal with the issue of having money for living expenses, such as food, shelter, and other base necessities.

Hah, I like. Harry doesn't roll over and reveal all his secrets, neither does he act needlessly antagonistic. Good show.

We'll get some of those details out of the way, but I figured them a bit trivial to list here, and they'd fit better in the next chapter after Harry has his brief moment of Zen before more shit happens. Anyway, Fury would really only call when stuff was really tough, and only based on what he knew Harry can do. That does include stealth given his little tour of the Helicarrier. I'd think he'd get paid for such things and handsomely, given the kind of import SHIELD's mission usually have. Fury and the Council are in the next chapter and they deal with Fury's decision to have this loose cannon around. World threatening stuff - well, obviously. It is the Avengers, after all.

For the moment he has that covered by being an ass and abusing Tony's hospitality, though obviously that won't last. ;)

Was this meant to be covert, or maybe undercover?

    Nice update.

Yeah, that popped out at me, too.

Since the usual idiom is phrased, "Nip it in the bud.", that 'stifle' bit is going to sound strange to the ears of English speakers in any case. However -and maybe it's just me- "Nip them in the bud," sounds a bit... off coming out of Fury's mouth.

This made me wince. I hate it when I read it in fanfiction as it just looks awkward to me. In all my life I've never experienced anyone casually name dropping someone like that when they know the other person has no idea who they're talking about. Usually people would say, "My friend blah." "This guy, blah, that I know once did this." etc etc.

Well...Harry is now a consultant now, is he? This can only end in tears.

It sounds a bit off, period. There's really nothing else that begins with nip and ends with bud that works, though, so it either needs to be changed or left. A different turn of phrase could work, but this is just me as a reader.

I really enjoyed this chapter. Honestly, I don't think Fury will want to ask Harry for help unless he has no other choice in the matter. They don't seem to get along very well and if he gets Harry involved there is really no way to control the situation as Harry will likely deal with it ever how he sees fit.

In other news, I could have done without that Harry trying to contact Hermione bit. It just made me want to see Hermione too. So, now I'm going to have to go reread the Stalking Blood Sack to get my Hermione fix.

I very much enjoyed this chapter as well. I'm not sure how well things are going to move forwards if Harry's only helping SHIELD with the worldshaking stuff, which the individual plots of each of the movies are likely not, but I'm still quite confident that you'll manage something.

Though I really, really half wanted Harry to break into Fury's mind >>

Who says he is only going to help SHIELD with the world shaking stuff? Harry seems more than capable of getting himself into trouble without needing some muggle organization to guide him towards potential disaster!

This man has been getting himself into life threatening situations since he was a baby. I'm sure he will manage to stumble his way into something risky and very dangerous all on his own. He has been doing a magnificent job of it thus far in the story.

Oh, I'm sure, but I think there's just so much potential if Harry works with SHIELD! Really establishing the differences between their two worlds, building Harry's development, and creating a lot more opportunity for interaction with Natasha and the like.

It just would seem a waste if he just went off and did things on his own.

I really expected Fury to pump Harry for more info about his powers. Instead he just tried to recruit him, even though it never looked like working. I mean sure he got him to work as a consultant, but he should have at least tried to get Harry to reveal something about his powers.

I think the name of the story should indicate this was inevitable.... Wand and S.H.I.E.L.D would've been too obvious I think.

Pretty excited to see how Harry will alter the movie events. Oba won't be getting "Hulk Smashed" will he... that'd be disappointing. Also adding Harry majorly into the Hulk movie would be awesome....
