In canon wand lore, we know that ownership is conferred after being bested in battle. Since it was willingly given up, even under duress, it wouldn't qualify under canon rules.

However, it's worth noting that those rules are for traditional wands and the Elder Wand when it is by itself. We don't know if the rules are any different for the Master of Death, since possession of the three hallows seems to have greater meaning. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts and all that.

 

I don't see how that's part of the lore? I recall nothing in the books dictating that and the wand not bending to Voldemort's will while either Snape or Harry were its master seems to contradict it.

I would like to say, in my defense, that it keeps referring to wizards - aka people who can wield it. The Elder Wand doesn't have a lot of wielders around, so unsentimental as it might be, there's nobody around who it might go to. Asgardian magic, canon implies, is somewhat like advanced science instead.

The next chapter (or two) should feature a character where this particular factor will actually be in play.
