    Awesome man liked the chapter. but;

There isn't an answer to this question. Did you forget it?

I don't think it was him noticing anything about Harry. Instead, I think it was him feeling that it was just an effect of his Arc Reactor, his hand /did/ reach for it after the warning from Jarvis. Maybe he just hasn't gotten around to logging the energy signature from the AR into Jarvis' systems, that's why he keeps getting prompted about it?

    Appreciate the feedback. :)

As for the papers - well, Fury might suspect so, but I'd think that voicing such suspicions would be kept to a minimum, at least without evidence. I'll see to it that this gets covered as it's been mentioned before.

Shield's communications have been mentioned, and I'll see about restructuring it - probably I should simply cut Natasha's comment out entirely, that way there won't be this informal back-and-forth feel to it.

Harry's not actually got an electromagnetic field that's weird - his magic's just similar in effect to it, which is why SHIELD interprets it as such. If you've seen the deleted scenes for Iron Man, you'll find that Jarvis has the same line in there too, and I thought it would be nice to reference it.

Tony talks around it, basically. I can clear up that he basically ignores the question, but I thought that was fairly obvious. ;)

Right - I always figured that Dumbledore used some other means of finding Harry's presence rather than just seeing through it - given that it's basically supposed to be the best invisibility cloak around, I'd expect it to live up to its legend, much like the other Hallows do. :)

I have to keep reminding myself not to make too many analogies and such and make magic into yet another vague energy emanation rather than the crazy reality warping it really is. :p

Just handwave the cloak thing as Dumbledore having the Wand, which means he also holds one of the Hallows.

I figured he was assuming it came from his ARC reactor.

    EDIT:

Potterfan stole my comment. I need to refresh before commenting after reading.

Did Harry hear Black Widow's part in the conversation between Fury and Barton?
He didn't mention it, but I don't know how he couldn't have heard her addressing Fury.
I suppose he could have already figured that she was involved with the whole deal, and hearing her relay like that wasn't any sort of revelation.

I edited it slightly so that Harry only hears the message from Fury, rather than the whole conversation, as some people commented how odd it was to have a spy organization conference call like that.

In any case, Harry's aware of Natasha being in SHIELD, and they'll meet again in the next chapter (though the jury is out on whether or not she'll know. :p)

Personally, I'm hoping that she does know. A part of me enjoys reading a slightly flashy Harry. Someone who might gatecrash a meeting about himself.

Since we're about to get to a potential Fury-Harry meeting, I feel I should point out something that is edging on being neglected--namely Fury's tendency of Samuel Jackson-style sassing of people he doesn't respect or see as equals. So far, we've only seen him talking to people he respects, so it can be excused as he has no reason to. But with Harry coming in...It's a question of whether Fury wants to stay on his good side and not be a condescending dick, or dislike him personally and act as such. Your call, but figured it was worth mentioning.

Yeah, Harry crashing a meeting between Fury, possibly Barton, Natasha and other SHIELD agents...no. Let's not forget just how trigger-happy they may be, and that Harry's trying to keep a low profile.

It could be pretty funny, sure, but so stupidly counter-intuitive it's not funny at all.

Fury's sufficiently annoyed by the whole thing that he's bound to do be rude - especially when Harry's just baiting him for a nasty reaction by basically spying on the spymaster.

    Appreciate the comment, though. :)

"Merlin's beard... Muggles are geniuses." < line from next chapter. :p

Yeah - if he's going to talk to anyone, he'd pick either Natasha, whom he already knows and who is probably not going to shoot him, or Fury - with precautions. Alone. That's how I see it, anyway.

Gatecrashing a SHIELD meeting might be more plausible if/when they're not pissed off against each other anymore. (It would be amusing to have him casually come in through the window of a flying aircraft carrier.)

This story has gone from being a random guilty pleasure I thought I'd get bored of relatively quickly to something that's turning out to be a genuinely good crossover.

    I cannot wait for more.

The low profile I buy, but if Harry was really prepared they could do dick all to him. One charm and any physical attack they threw at him would be next to useless. Assuming they even have the desire to attack him in the first place. Wizards have the ability to manipulate the the mind of muggles and in this story the only real person we've seen avoid this is hawkeye and one could argue he isn't quite normal and even then Harry wasn't using the elder wand.

I feel people tend to vastly underestimate the wizard community in the Harry Potter world due to the way they are presented in the books. Pure bloods who know next to nothing about muggles were never even injured by muggles on their raids. People in the English countryside have guns and what's more the muggle government was warned about it and the death eaters and Voldemort took control without issue.

At the moment SHIELD has no one with real super ability that could harm Harry when he is prepared for it. With that being said, if Harry wants to keep a low profile this wouldn't be the way to go.

The other thing. I don't normally like Word of God from JKR, but she has stated, "It's indecent the amount of time I spend thinking up wizarding ways to subvert arrogant Muggles." Just something to keep in mind. And for the record I was imagining him gatecrashing a meeting between three or four members of SHIELD not all of them.

Ah, but that's part of the problem with a crossover of this type. On the one hand, wizards are able to do much more than a human can due to being able to rape reality. However, Muggle technology on the level of the Avengers-verse is able to reach the level of being near-reality warping on its own. You have to balance the superiority of Harry as a protagonist without marginalizing the exceptional non-supers out of the picture.

We haven't seen any real Harry-nonsuper action yet, so we can't really judge. But yes, Harry would be able to curbstomp any cannon-fodder agents, Black Widow can't do shit if she can't hit him with her gadgets or get in close, Hawkeye likewise, and pretty much anyone else can't so much--they have no preparations for this level of attacker. In the hierarchy of power in the Avengers, Harry would be able to come in 3rd after Thor and the Hulk.

I'm not. The regular humans are just as useless against the other supers as well. Do you think they are ever really a threat to the Hulk? The only hope regular people have is to sneak up on people like that and with Harry like Fury already found out, that is next to impossible to do when Harry is on guard. I would imagine Harry will start checking his drinks and food from now on too.

It's clear Harry won't be curb stomping the major villains and super heroes in this movie. Nothing short of a killing curse would destroy the shield of Captain America and others will have degree of resistance to Harry's magic.

I'm just talking about normal people. Right now that is all SHIELD really has. With the exception of Hawkeye who isn't really a threat to Harry due to the nature of his ability.

Ah, I never really rated the Hulk at all, actually. Sure, if you were to stick him in the middle of a city he'd go and destroy it, but some sort of heavy ordnance would do the same job, and he can't do much else.

It all depends on how you classify 'power', really. If you were to see it as the ability to perform any given task, then Harry has it pretty much hands down. It's only if we're talking pure strength/endurance/physical abilities that the Hulk can win, and that isn't really realistic to be honest.

Well, that's debatable. I admit to not knowing much about the Avengers-verse, but unless Captain America's shield has some kind of magical protection due to having an American flag printed on it, surely transfiguration would work? Or a Switching spell? Switch it with a dinner plate?

I don't know, but quite a lot of formerly OP stuff seems to be fairly easily screwed around with when you bring magic into the equation.

Cap's shield is made of a vibranium alloy. Vibranium has some unique properties -- I'm not sure if immunity to magic is one of them, but it wouldn't be out of place if Roarian decided to slap that property onto it as well for the sake of giving Cap a buff.

You assume direct attacks which could be reflected by the shield. Anything indirect or omni directional and Captain A. is toast.

Vibranium alloy only absorbs kinetic energy. That's it. No Magic resistance. In fact, the vibranium alloy shield that Capn has now is eventually destroyed, and he gets a replacement shield from Thor. This new shield is made of Uru. The same stuff Thor's hammer is made of. THAT shield has magic resistance.

This is referring to the comics universe. The films are set in a different universe, which plays by a highly similar, yet ultimately different set of rules. Who's to say vibranium can't have additional properties here if the author wants?

Comics play fast and loose with their own rules all the time anyway.
