First of all Castiel, you're forgetting about the possibility that Matt could be survivalist or traveller, secondly, something that nobody has mentioned yet is that both Matt and Jon are witches. What they could have done is given the extra life to Matt, and then targeted him so nobody would think Matt was a witch.

I'm presuming that you intended to stay, and still meant, "...will prevent all kills against the chosen protection target...," rather than simply all kills...
Otherwise, that would certainly be, well, different. It would make Night Kills a much more interesting concept due to almost necessitating a sacrifice, and Witches would almost want to have a few of themselves dead, simply to mess with voting, hah!

Mishie, what would be the future merit of targeting MattSilver? I am asking this because it is rather obvious that MattSilver surviving a Night Kill makes him a Rogue Warlock suspect.
