American Pie was written in tribute to Buddy Holly, who died in a plane crash along with Richie Valens and the Big Bopper, on February 3, 1959.

Thick as a Brick was written about societal forces that stifle individuality and promote conformity.

Is it not amazing the information you can find on Google?
