This came up in the Hallowed thread. But is there a Hinny story in fanon that might be worth reading? Or a story where I wouldnt want to drive a Grunnings drill through my head.

    Joe's hero stuff doesnt count.

    Never use "Hinny" again, please.

Deadwoodpecker does a good Harry/Ginny. In particular, I recommend Backward with Purpose and sequels.

It's a bit old, but Sib's The Awakening Power was good for its time (though it comes off pretty fanony nowadays).

Antosha's stuff is decent, as is Northumbrian's.

Some people enjoy Jeconais's This Means War, though like most of his stories, it quickly gets over-the-top and turns crackish by the end.
Harry's riding a dragon into outer space, e.g.
I've written a few Harry/Ginny stories that are in the DLP Library as well.

Everything written by Northumbrian is spectacular. The stories aren't too substantial (both in terms of length and plot), but they depict normal family life incredibly well.

I fully second deadwoodpecker, and also suggest Yellow Submarine.

The Phoenix and the Serpent will probably never be completed but it's one of the greatest fics of all time, an easy 5/5.

I remember The Ring of Gold also having good stuff, and having Ginny as a main character. Has two sequels I've never read, but only because I didn't have time when I read the first one.

All these are Harry/Ginny to some extent and pretty awesome stories.

Stuck this in almost recommendable a while back. It's pretty good. Has great character development and a very mature voice. There's a few annoying things, but it's worth the read, IMO.

There's this Harry/Ginny story I'm trying to find that I read a while back. It essentially has them moving into this house in a muggle neighborhood and becoming friends with a number of people, including this muggle lady who is the pov character. Slowly she picks up on the quirks of H&G and their extended family, though, as far as I read, she hasn't yet been introduced to the magical world. Last chapter contains a party at H&G's house, with her and lot of their magical friends invited.

What's cool about that story is how interesting the muggle pov character is, and how the whole suburban ennui is subtly shown in regards to the way the other housewives react to the new couple, the monotonous nature of people's routines, and the changes H&G's arrival induces in the muggle pov character.

Anyone have any idea of this fic? It's of decent length, 8-9 chapters, and impeccable grammar.

Oh, it's in the library. Apparently, I wasn't trying too hard.

    Thanks!

Has anyone at DLP tried to write a H/G story? One that doesn't involve horrible amounts of (often fatal) pain for Ginny?

    Hmm, that the one where
Ginny's got leftover knowledge from Tom's diary and is manipulating people all around so that she could get together with Harry, while using a thinly veiled pretense of making his life all better, while also alienating Ron in the process who apparently conspires later on with Draco Malfoy for some reason, while Hermione remains a close friend (mustn't have any mudblood bashing, no sir) and ends up with one of the stooges on the side (Neville, I think)?

If so, I recommend folks to skip it.

If you don't mind fluffy romance, this one is quite good. In fact, I've been reading it the last week or so, and I'd say its the best 'fluff' I've read in a long time.

    Magic Within, Magic Without

Essentially, its from Ginny's POV, stuff happens and Harry and Ginny end up spending the summer at her great (great, great, great) aunt's estate. It's not overly-sappy, overly-angsty, and while its not standard DLP fare, I never thought it was boring. Some of the progression from "oh, no, I'm stuck with my aunt and Harry" to "I love my aunt and Harry" is really heart-warming, and there is plenty to chuckle at - for example: Ginny teaching a Jarvey to say something horrible about Draco, the 'anxiety clock' which is like the Weasley's clock but whispers things like: "How will I work if this dust gets in my gears?" etc. etc.

I'm just getting to the part where some plot happens, and I'll probably finish in the next few days.

The Death Gate trilogy has one of the best Ginny characterizations ever - Ginny works in the foreign relation department and is by no means a Mary sue. Be warned though - it is almost a million words and more or less Ginny centric - there are more Ginny POV chapters than Harry POV. It is in the DLP library as well - here.

The Original Naked Quidditch Match is a classic that you must absolutely read. There isn't much of Ginny, but what is there is well done.

The Phoenix and the Serpent is one of the greatest stories of all time. It is Harry/Ginny with decent Ginny characterization, but read this for the LOTR-esque journey rather than the secondary romance. Fuck, some of the stuff still gives me chills years after (re)reading the story.

The Wendell that Wasn't and Out of the Fire and into the Cupboard are both great one-shots that focus on Ginny's snarkier side. The first story is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

Lastly, An Interview with Justin FinchFletchey has probably the greatest Ginny lines ever. She completely WTF-pwned Carrow by just speaking.
