I found some good music recs from some of the DLP threads.

There was an old thread here, I hope its okay to start a new one instead of necro-ing.

    ...

What are you listening to? Today, right now, on repeat, etc.

The Verve - Lucky Man - It's a blast from the past for me since the Verve were one of my favourite bands of my teenage years.

Babymetal - Gimme Chocolate - Definitely one of the strangest combinations of pop/metal I've ever heard, but surprisingly good. J-Pop/Heavy metal. Something to listen to if only for the fact that it's so god damn weird.

Tim Minchin - Not Perfect - A bit less strange, a bit more funny. Tim Minchin is an awesome comedian and singer-songwriter, and I highly suggest having a listen to his other songs. Also of note is Five Poofs and Two Pianos. Just listen. It's hilarious.

I have a varied taste in music, I know.

Currently listening to Bailando by Enrique Iglesias ft. Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona.

It's a kind of modern take on flamenco, quite different for Enrique's Iglesias' other stuff. Giving it the reggaeton treatment.

Video is awesome too. Lots of hot chicks from the Dominican Republic.

    Toro y Moi - Touch

Someone uploaded a slowed down version of his latest album. It works out pretty great. A really melancholy vibe to what's already chillwave.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, Blueberry by Danny Brown. From the video/song, it seems like it'd be awesome to party with him, except I'm afraid that I would die.

I'm going to use this thread in the way best way: plugging unknown artists! Now for my reccomendation. It starts a bit jazzy with electronic elements, but it ends in quite a progressive rock style. It's one of my favourite finds of the last few weeks and definetely worth a listen!

I'm currently high on Within Temptation. I've been listening to them for years now, but their new album has reminded me why they're so awesome, and how criminal it is that they're not more recognized over in the US, since Sharon is a far better singer than all the pop crap we have.

    new stuff:
    Dog Days
    And We Run

    old stuff:
    The Truth Beneath the Rose
    Demon's Fate

    oldest stuff:
    Mother Earth
    Deciever of Fools
    Jillian

I've also been listening to a lot of Wintersun. Their albums overall are sort of meh, but they have some amazing individual songs.

California by Delta Spirit. I've been jamming to this ever since I heard it. Surprisingly I heard it on American Dad.

Chopin, mostly because I'm playing his stuff of late. (Working up a few preludes, his Gm nocturne, and my bucket-list piece, FI in C#m Op. 66. Yes, the last is not hard to play passably, but balls to play well, at least for someone at my skill lvl.)

Even though it was unimpressive at first listen, Mr Probz' Waves just won't leave me alone. Can't help but listen to it on repeat.

Two Steps From Hell - Heart of Courage
Two Steps From Hell - For the Win
Two Steps From Hell - Blackheart

That last one is with some video, but it fits the song.

This one is russian, it's kind of unusual song: Чи-Ли -Лето ("Summer")

Some good metal: Powerwolf -We drink your blood

EDIT: I forgot to add at least one Czech pop song. Here it is: Petr Muk - Stín katedrál ("Shadows of cathedrals" or something like that)

And, finally, something called Slavic Pagan Metal: Arkona - Slavsia, Rus

The soundtrack of the The secret world of Walter Mitty. I know many people who didn't enjoy the movie, but I did and the soundtrack is superb.
