Hey, I don't mind the ego-stroking. It reminds me of why I still write fanfiction instead of only original stuff.

My go-to stories include pretty much anything by Silens, Nuhuh, and Jon, but Awaken Sleeper by Water Mage is probably the fic I hit up the most as I tend to re-read the entire thing when it gets updated.

I guess I fail at tongue in cheek. I love Shezza. I only joke that I hate him because he abandoned that last Denarian fic.

Shezza is a dude? I was pretty sure Shezza was a woman.

I think I've re-read Dreaming of Sunshine the most out of all the fanfiction out there. There's probably a dozen stories I've 'gone back to' and read 3-4 times, but I've probably gone through DoS 8 times.

Denarian Series by Shezza I've read 4 times I think. Howling Wind I've read about 3. Backwards with Purpose 2-3 times. Konoha's ANBU I've read 2-3 times. Lamora's pokemon fic 2-3 times. Wand and Shield 2-3 times? Santi's BWL 2-3 times.

Various others that don't come to mind that I've probably read about three times over the last 10 years or more. If I forgot yours, I'm sorry. Pretend it was there (if it was good).

I have read many, many stories twice. Not gonna try to count those. Most I've read once, or else dropped before finishing.

Every year, I have a ritual. Sometimes twice a year.

    1) I re-watch Firefly.
    2) I re-watch Serenity.
    3) I read Forward, by Peptuck.

If you've ever watched Firefly, or hell, even if you've read Nonjon's crossover, I highly recommend reading Forward. It's arguably the best fanfiction I've ever read, across any fandom.

I haven't watched Firefly/Serenity in years. I might just do this.

It's Schrodinger's Shezza. She might be a dude. He might be a gal, we'll never know.

I really enjoy the second one, but it always seems to be hovering in that zone where it could easily become slash. Harry always seems to be damaged and seeking comfort from the strong arms and stormy eyes of whatever male compatriot happens to be present in fics that have this sort of tone. Whatever happened to platonic male friendship that was deeper than brofists and shared beers?

I'm still following it, don't get me wrong. It's pretty well written and I especially enjoy Harry's interactions with the rest of the Avengers cast as they pop up, but it feels like he's always a few paragraphs away from being plundered.

You hit it on the head with your statement - it was sacrificed on the altar of slash shipping by the fevered minds of fangirls (and not a few fanboys, either).

I wish it showed up more often, both in fanfic and original fic. Another thing I wish turned up more often was platonic male/female friendships that go deep without edging into romance. If you want that sort of thing you'd best look for fics with male/female twins, because if they aren't related romance is going to be a /thing/. Damnit.

This comes to mind, one of the best H/Hr non-romantic relationship fics.

I heavily object to this rule.

Anyway, a few platonic friendships that aren't necessarily well written but more like feel-good relationships that are enjoyable to read:

A Black Comedy - Harry and Sirius are obvious contenders
The Innocence of Guilt - Harry and Mary Sue, they show a great level of trust and reliance on each other
While you were sleeping - Meh OC romance, but great scenes with Harry, Hermione and Ron
On the Wings of Magic - The best friendship between Harry and McGonagall
Gryffindors Never Die - Harry and Ron friendship, lighthearted and enjoyable
Midnight Blues - Harry and Ron friendship, lighthearted and enjoyable
An Old and New World - Harry and Tom/Tam, two very like-minded individuals
Skipping Stones - I somehow really like the friendship between Harry and Romilda, too bad it's abandoned.

Schrodinger's means Shezza is a dude, a chick and a live/dead cat too, probably, at once. Each is true until we open the box and we haven't figured out how to open the box so far.

There's not a single HP fanfic in there. Why on earth would you post that in a HP subforum?

    >Ginny/Draco

    Nope.

Quite a few people posted only non HP fics, or more non HP fics.

But here, one only for you.

    Reload

Pretty much the only fic I've read more than two times (five times, to be precise). Every six months I return and find it just as refreshing and hilarious as before.

The urge to post my own fics is strong. For continuation purposes alone I've read them so many times that they're coming out my ears by now.
