Personally, when I picture canon Harry, I picture the younger brother in the most excellent movie, Wedding Crashers...you know...the homo kid.

Just think about it, black messy hair, malnourished, skinny, a complete pussy...put together with a redhead whore, I think that we have a winner. I realize that this is completely random, but...

Yeah once you see a movie based on a book, whenever you read the book again, the characters become the actors. An author can be the best in the world but a picture speaks a thousand words.

 

not really. i still see snape, fudge, and hermione differently than the movies.

 

I don't tend to visulise characters...I read too fast for that lol. When you say Harry to me I might think "green eyes, black hair, thin" but he has no face for me If anything, I see the word H.A.R.R.Y in my head....

 

The main reason I avoided the movies was cos I didn't want my mental image of the characters ruined. By and large it's worked. There's absolutely no canon basis for this, that I can recall, but I have this idea that Dumbledore is round and jolly, like Santa Claus

I agree with you. Harry looks like a complete fag in the movies. In the book, Rowling seems to put character into Harry. In the book, Harry seems to have reason and thought. All in all, in the book Harry is not a dumbass pussy who looks like a fag like Radcliffe

 

The only one that I picture without movie contamination is Snape. I think Rickman does a good Snape but I still prefer Mary Grandpre's Snape. For those who don't know she is the one that does the illustrations for the books. The picture for the Occlumency chapter in OotP has Snape with Sirius's back to us. But the best illustration of Snape has got to be The Flight of the Prince in HBP, the book might of sucked but Grandpre was in rare form when she did that one.

I'm a bit of a fanart junkie, so I have art images of Harry - none of them are quite *right*, so I manage to picture a combination.

 

Movie Harry reminds me of the BIGGEST poser EVER in my school, Davis Thomas, Gogo can back me up here.

As for book Harry, I see a short kid with bed hair everyday, broken glasses, and Bright green eyes.

 

Movie Harry reminds of a puppet, a pretty face ment to do nothing.

Book Harry, i see a short kid, who need a new hair style, crappy glasses and big green eyes, which makes me think Anime...

I picture all character in my brain while reading the HP books or fanfic, in Anime style.

 

When I think of Harry, I usually think of him with a blurred face in my mind. I can discern the hair, and thats pretty much it. I never have him in glasses, either.

But in those rare moments I can see him clearly, I oddly enough see him as myself, just with green eyes. I suppose I got the pure black Crows nest hair (Can never keep the hair on the back of my hair flat), but I'm a bit tall at 6'2. Usually these are fics where Harry is more indpendent and with backbone. I think I envision him as taller because he's manlier, so he starts fitting my profile.

Maybe I'm just idealizing?

In the end, however, it ultimatly depends on what fic I'm reading. Stories liek Web of Lies, where Harry acts more like a child (he dupes the world in thinking that he is Dumble's first year grandson) and gets hugs from everyone I imagine him as my little brother. He's just a shorter clone of me at 8 years old.

Pussywhipped Harry gets a blurred face with messy hair.

Child!Harry gets 5 year old me, as of pictures. No Glasses. Eyes stand out alot.

Adult Harry gets to be a tall guy, with hair sticking out literally everywhere (spiky look), thin but not skinny, think reborn!Voldemort except with Harry's face and without snake characteristics. No Glasses. Eye color much more noticable.

James looks liek Daniel Radcliffe.

Lily looks more like anime than rea life, but her hair is literally red, not just redish brown. Eye color much more noticalble.

Ron looks like third year movie, but Hermione is stuck in her first year look.

Dumbledore is GoF movie, except the accent and is much more sure of himself and collected. (Anybody notice how GoF Dumbledore in the movie always seemed flustered?)

Snape is the actor, but alot more greasier.

All the teachers except Flitwick look the same as the actors. Flitwick is brown haired, and wears it shorter than the movie. He always has a goofy smile on, unlike the actor.

Malfy looks like third year Malfoy. Lucius is Lucius. Narcissa is a supermodel. Bella is blurred in the face, pale, but hot nonetheless in a gothic sort of way.

Voldemort is always human in my mind, never snakelike. He looks like Harry, except his hair is long and straight. Not ponytailed. His red eyes are such that he has no whites, everything is a GLOWING red.

Every girl is hot, except Cho, Marrieta, Milliscent, Ginny (skinny, pale, ugly), and Pansy. Pansy is hot if she didnt have the nose. Basically if they are not stated as ugly, I assume thy're hot.

Jugson reminds me of a pornstar for obvious reasons. Blaise is black haired, has purple eyes. She is a mini-Bella.

Tom Riddle looks like Harry, except his eyes arent green. It depends on the fic.

But above all, everyone speaks with an Intelligent American Accent. They use big and british words as well as their grammer, but they don't pronounce british.
