What do you picture canon Harry as? (Radcliffe doesn't count!)

Well, I use mostly the illustrations in my mind, but I think my imagination warps them to a more detailed, almost anime, style of drawing (without big eyes). And I can't help but to picture all the female characters that I don't hate (or are not old) as hot. As accents go, sometimes I imagine them, and sometimes I don't. Depends on the character. Harry's eyes always glow, unless he is crybaby!Harry.

Heh, when I think of canon Harry I think of the illustrations on the covers and in the books. Not of Daniel Radcliffe :p.

But when I think of Dark Harry, I think of my avatar. :)

    Gotta love this avatar.

I saw the first movie before I read any of the books so I already had ideas of what they looked like before JKR ever described them to me.

Only thing I add in usually is the eyes are much more vivid bright green in my mind. The hair a bit blacker, a bit more wild and natty. fanfic grows him up sometimes and I see a much more mature Harry, but for canon I can't see past Radcliffe's baby fat cheeks. And a good hero needs strong cheekbones.

As for Trent Reznor as Snape, yeah I'd heard that before. But dear god, if Alan Rickman gets this many brainless teen girls' knickers drippy, can you imagine how awful it would be with Mr. Nine Inches? I usually picture more wrinkles, warts, and moles with hair sprouting from them on Snape in my head.

And while I can picture Hermione sprouting a melon patch, I don't think Ginny will ever be anything but flat as a board, even grown-up. Frankly I picture her grown-up still living at the burrow and Molly using her ribs as a washboard whenever Mr. Weasley breaks Molly's "muggle washing machine." And Ginny cries a lot in that picture. Sort of like Cinderella. If Ginny gets turned into a mouse. And starts hitting on Scabbers. But I digress.

sree's avatar looks like a pissed off mirai trunks from dragonballz. which doesn't mean it doesn't also do dark!harry justice.

i don't like redheads. i don't like pale skin, orange hair, and general nastiness of them (sorry to any redhead lovers or redheads themselves).

now, an auburn haired woman who can get a soft tan just might be amongst the most beautiful in the world - but the stereotypical redhead does nothing for me. even if they are supposed to have high libidos.

and i've always pictured ginny as an ugly, flat, pale redhead. same with ron. i think i hate ron more than i hate ginny.

either way, despite canon or fanon...i've always seen those two as the ugliest of uglies...and the movies didn't help.

Wow, I understand that you don't like redheads, but to use the words 'general nastiness' to describe them? I have red hair and pale skin (despite any attempts at a tan) and I wouldn't describe myself as 'ugly'. It really is your own opinion, but it dosn't make any of us feel better to have you put it out there. Besides, this thread is about Harry, not how much you hate redheads.

I like redheads if their not skinny, and their hair is red...not a reddish shade of brown.

See? It's only Ginny I dislike!

A lot of red heads are hot. It's Ginny the character I don't like.

I picture Harry being a thin athletic looking guy with pale skin and messy black hair. I mean he can't be too thin and malnourished if he can kick Draco's ass in HBP (the only part of the book I liked).

How do I imagine Harry? Umm 6ft tall with bulging muscles... j/k.

I imagine him sort of a cross between Radcliff and the cover, leaning towards the cover. He's thin, but not skinny, average height slightly muscled. I kind of think that if you don't look for him then you would miss him.

I don’t think he’s malnourished anymore. I mean come one, after 10 months in Hogwarts eating as much as he wants will remove any malnourishment.

Although I saw the first movie before I read the books, something didn't stick. Like the dumbledore from the first movie for one, too fat and he doesn't look very powerful at all, but has that grandfather thing going on that could pass in the books. With harry I picture him as myself, as I look very much like him, thus the majority of people calling me Potter at school against my wishes, minus the green eyes, have the glasses and the wild black hair. Hermione I see as the actor in the first movie, not past that. Ginny, I don't realy picture at all, shes more so a background character and doesn't deserve a picture at all. Ron, I picture as I lanky version of the twins. GoF didn't do the twins justice IMO, they had the full ending sentences and speaking at the same time, but some of the things thy did just seemed a bit too weird, like the scene in the tent was just retarded and dulls their intelligance times ten, when they hardly get given credit.

I was talking about the face....

a kid/man on the smaller side, with thin, wire rimmed spectacles, messy hair (anime styled spikes), decently built in muscle (has to be with all the work the dursley's put him through, but not mega strong), slightly aristocratic facial features witht high cheekbones but a rounder nose from Lily and of course his strikingly emerald green eyes...

    All in all, not bad...

to be quite honest, vizualizing canon Harry doesn't really work for me, because he has bright green eyes. Okay, that's not a big deal by itself, but his personality doesn't match that neon green eye color at all. He's not proactive enough. So really it just ends up looking like the hand of the author chasing a dull blue eyed Harry and trying to perform an eye transplant, and she never quite catches him.......I find she tries to force a lot of things on her characters that they really aren't suited for at all.
