For the purposes of this thread, "following" basically means that if the author posted a new chapter tomorrow morning, you'd read it right away. (Without needing to reread the whole story from the start to remember wtf was going on.)

Feel free to include stories that update sporadically or even ones you would normally hesitate to recommend- but something about them keeps you coming back for more...

    Here's my list:

    Victoria Potter by Taure
What's Her Name in Hufflepuff by asheztoashes
The Secret Diary of Cameron Baum by Pjazz
    An Unfound Door by Joe
What You Leave Behind by Newcomb
A Long Journey Home by Rakeesh
Alexandra Quick and the World Away (just ended, but up until that point)

Been waiting a bit for that?

I'm sad because I have none that I'm currently following other than Bloodcrest.

There are a couple garbage stories that I follow a guilty pleasure on SB, but those aren't worth mentioning.

Whats the Secret Diary of Cameron Baum about?

    Easy answer?

    1. Anything that warrants a 4/5 and updates often enough that I can remember WTF is going on (example: Prince of Slytherin)
    2. Anything I like SO SO MUCH (example: Dreaming of Sunshine)
    3. Unicorn stories that fit both of the above (example: ???)
    CURRENTLY?
    • Dreaming of Sunshine
    • Prince of Slytherin
    • When Harry met Tom
    • Minato Namikaze and the Destroyer of Worlds
    • ((A few other Carnivorous Muffin fics, but NOT their main one))
    • Resurrect the Living
    • Ghost of Privet Drive
    • Less than Zero
    • ???
Probably a few more I'm missing. I only listed stories that I've read an update for in the last 4 months or so (with the exception of Dreaming of Sunshine, which I regularly re-read bits of wishing for an update).

If some other old favorites start updating again I'll review what's happened and start following them too, but those aren't listed.

    - Son of the Western Sea, by Mac Calleach (PJO)
    - Hurricane Suite, and Patriots Dawn Sequel, by Inert. (Naruto)
    - Black Luminary, by Yakage (HP)
    - Tale of the Setting Sun, by PK Samurai (Naruto)
    Obligatory pls update Striker, etc

I have a couple more, but they are included in previous posts on this thread.

I follow Sanitize as well, lately @Halt s fic about Arthas, and Victoria Potter. Oh, and any of dwellingondream's stuff because its engaging even when lacklustre.

Stuff I've given up on updating anytime soon but would drop everything to read
    Seeking Peace
Any of jacobk's old and great fics
    Ryuugi's praetor fic
    Kaze No Uta
    HP:TLA

tbh though, I've given up on hoping for more great fanfiction so I doubt I'll add to this list. There's prolly a dozen I'm forgetting, and I definitely didn't add those that I know are abandoned for sure. Anyways it takes too long to sift through shit so I wont be searching for greats, I still read shitty worm fics a lot though, its like comfort food.

    • Victoria Potter
    • Traitors Son
    • Game of Champions (AN)
    • Dragon from Ash
    • Annerb's post-Hogwarts series
    • Steelbadgers varied series
Theres others I follow who would be on this list if they updated, such as Newcombs stuff and A Long Journey Home. Surprisingly, theres also quite a few that I am intending to catch up on one day, such as Mother of Learning and quite a few things in the WbA.

This thread has been a rollercoaster. Saw lots of fic names I didn't recognise, got excited about new things to read, realised they weren't HP fics, felt sad that DLP has fallen so far as to link Spacebattles.

Tbf SB isn't a guarantee of being shit, just a warning to expect a certain amount of shit to dig through.

One of the best fics I've ever read was on SB. It was a wonderful experience, the quality of the fic had no correlation to the quality of the conversation it spawned, I realised.

Anyway, fics I'll follow, off my own back.

    - A dragon from Ash
    - A gilded Hero
    - Kill Six Billion Demons

I think that's it. There's fics I love, that update regularly, like Victoria Potter, or Thread of Destiny. And I just don't click. I blame discord, screens, modern-life, and general shittiness on my own part.

Nothing much for Harry Potter, tbh.

    For other fandoms though...:

The Newtons Law series for Mass Effect, which updates pretty regularly. Link to the library thread rather than the series proper; it's a whole trilogy+DLC retelling, essentially a novelisation of the series with a few alterations, notably to the Citadel DLC at the moment, but I really like it, particularly the first story, which is Shepard's backstory.

    'But Doctor, I am Pagliacci'
. DC AU where the Joker has become sane, but Batman doesn't exist. It's expanding from the original mystery into something much larger, but still well worth a read if you're a fan of DC as a whole.

I'm kind of following Dragon From Ash, but I'm a few updates behind, and could probably do with a reread.

Sometime Through the Stars, a Supergirl AU which transplants most of the characters to Soviet Russia, in and around the space race. Sometimes a bit clunky, but a well-told story that could honestly be an original work with a few minor alterations.

The Hallmark series, another Supergirl AU which in many ways I probably shouldn't like; it's an incredibly fluffy and cheesy series (for the most part) more interested in relationship drama than anything else, which isn't normally my cup of tea at all, but I really enjoy it. (part 1 is a prequel, part 2 was the original story)

You've not looked at what threads are active here in the library lately have you? Be the change you wanna see.

    Try harder than this.

A few guilty pleasures, both on FF and SB as for goodish fics
Sanitize recently updated and it's still gorgeous
Yeah, not much exciting these days.
