I hope the mods go with a dual category (anonymous Long Form entries > 10k and anonymous Short Form < 10k) and give every DLP member a single vote in each when the submissions are finished and posted. Gets everyone involved, keeps it straightforward and fair, encourages writing, we'll end up with a lot of fresh Dark!Harry fics, and it'll go a long way towards injecting some more life and quality into a dying genre and a dwindling fandom.

Little awards - mod appointed user-titles, for example, different coloured names, or w/e on the boards, a Patronus Charm mention, etc - would encourage the submission of fics. While that list is rad, the more submissions the merrier.

 

Oh? So I'm not worthy of mention? I see how it is.

Edit: GL, I like that idea. I think giving both long and short entries equal mention will help keep some of the smaller fics from getting crushed by behemoth epics.

 

Yeah, I'm actually going to work on the next update for BWL pretty soon. Because of a fuck up by one of my profs, which has resulted in my law school applications being delayed for 10 business days, I have a bit of unexpected free time.

A mention in the C2 description/charter thing could be a cool reward if/once the fics are eventually posted to FF.net, if enembee was up for it.

I've been sitting on something Dark for a while and its only now that I started writing again that I have the motivation to start it.

 

What do people think of making these stories, once the competition closed, PC exclusive? Being a DLP contest, it would make sense. I could promote it with any updated to my FF stories, maybe help draw a little traffic PC's direction.

Depends on what DLP wants to promote more. The C2, or Patronus Charm? Putting a notice on ff.net saying new story is available exclusively on PC would make more sense in a board-wise context considering how much that site is flagging, but ff.net and the C2 would grant greater readership and, obviously, work in favour of the C2.

Which better makes benefit glorious DLP?

Maybe a second C2 exclusively for contest submissions? Are we allowed to do that?

 

Maybe there could be a delay in updates.

Chapters have to be first submitted on Patronus Charm, but authors are allowed to post on FF.Net 2-3 days later with advertisements to the Contest and their related accounts.

Depending on how long the contest is and the frequency of updates this could garner a lot of traffic to PC.

It wouldn't hurt to have a dedicated contest page with rankings of Views or Reviews to kind of help guide readers to what is going on.

 

Are we disqualified if we have something pre-written? :/ If not, I'd like to join this enterprise.

I think we're fine with the DLP Work By Author subforum. The WBA has always been what Patronus Charm has been marketed as.

 

I really don't care for the prizes, but maybe an icon for the DLP by your name would be awesome. Or something for our signatures would be neat.(See what I did there? Subtle aren't I.)

I guess we're now just waiting on the powers that be. I think they are deciding on rules and whatnot.

 

I think I'd like to throw in on this too. I've been needing a kick to get some writing momentum anyhow, and it'd be nice to work on something different for a little while.

 

Goddamnit,I'm currently blasting through Nip/Tuck as fast as possible so that I can get writing. Granted I'll probably never publish any of it but the practice would be worth it.

I'm working on my ME story at the moment, but if there is a competition I would definitely write a submission to get the creative juices flowing more easily. I've been thinking of expanding upon my TGYH submission from long ago.

 

We also need some rules set down on multiple submissions. I just found an old bunny of mine and... well, now I'm stuck between three.

Will it be one per category (assuming there are categoriess)? Unlimited? One only?

 

I think at this point it will be up to the admins. They just need to catch-up with the rest of us.
