While everyone is celebrating in the Great-Hall, she is invisible and locks the doors from the inside. After that she uses Fiendfyre to kill everybody including herself.

I don't know where I read it, but Bill started a desk job at Gringotts to help the Order.

Regarding Ron being an idiot, I have to chare the opinion of the majority.
IMO it isn't just his behavior towards Harry in Gof and DH, which bothers me.
Just look how he treats Hermione the whole time, it's almost disgusting.
He always takes everything for granted (i.e. his friends), that attitude makes me

The best interaction between Harry and Ron is in Santi's "Harry Potter and the boy who lived"
Practically none existent except for the occasional cursing.

Well played, sir. At first I thought you had confused "good morning" with "shut up, faggot," but then I remembered this is DLP. Next time, I'll know not to interrupt a Bill Weasley wankfest.

However, let me first try to continue the conjecture a little. If the job is as dangerous and life-threatening as said, there would need to significant remuneration for that and the skills needed. Therefore, Bill would need to absolutely love the job or get paid a lot.

I don't see Bill loving the job, because he hid out in a cottage for most of a book. You don't see a little thing like a world war stopping Indiana Jones.

So, Bill must be paid a significant sum. That makes him a dick for not helping out his family financially. If my family were not well off and I had extra money, I would certainly help buy my younger siblings new clothes and quality school supplies.

(Note: This is just what I believe to be a logical continuance of conjecture.)

What the fuck, newb. The point is that Bill is awesome and here's why. You're missing it by a mile :(

(As a complete side-note, it is not sure that he hid in Shell Cottage, and furthermore, the reason he is there and not anywhere else is obviously because Fleur is there.)

I still don't get why everybody likes that guy?
He's without a doubt the biggest Gary Stu in the whole Canon/world

He's got no apparent flaws, has a "cool" job and the hottest girl.
That's like a crap super Fanon/Harry and that is boring, isn't it ?

...do you think his lack of flaws might be because he's in about four or five scenes over the course of the series?

Fucking LOL. I will say this though, related to Bill's job and the goblins, etc. Here in the U.S., everyone still seems to have this romanticized view of the Old West cowboys, how they had this awesome job and all this freedom and blah blah blah. In reality, the great majority of cowboys was made up of blacks and Hispanics; now what does that tell you about the job? It tells you it was a shit job, because in those days (nowadays too, but that's a different subforum...) if a job was boss or a cushy post, you can bet your ass it was held by a white person. This is all from my American History courses in college, and I was quite disappointed to learn exactly how bad a job being a cowboy was.

The point? Well, if the goblins don't want to do it, that doesn't necessarily mean it's uber-cool or exciting per se; maybe it just means it really, really sucks, and the goblins are smart enough to say, "Hey, why are we risking our goblin asses trying to crack this pyramid/tomb/whatever, when we can make it sound cool and sucker a few talented wizards into doing it? And if a few of them get killed in the process, more's the lulz."

For fuck's sake, you have several on-going stories touted in your sig, and you continue to fuck this up. "Allot" has already been addressed, but for the umpteenth time on this site, it's not "would of" motherfucker, it's "would have". Christ. And before your panties twist too much, it's not just you; you're just the token dumbass this time around.

Bungle was the first Badass!Bill fic I thought of as well.

Crystal - that's how clear it is to me from this single post that I have zero interest in reading anything you write.

Inb4 requests for pics from you.

    Hopefully sooner rather than later.

See my comments in this post about Bill's job. Just because it's dangerous does NOT mean it's highly paid. Hell, just going to a magic school sounds pretty fucking dangerous to me, and working with dragons sounds a hell of a lot more life-threatening on a daily basis, IMO, but consider this: The Weasleys are a proud family, who if you recall, never let Harry pay for anything when he was at their house. When their children left home, I would guess that the elder Weasleys didn't expect (and probably wouldn't accept) any financial help from Bill or Charlie or Percy or even Fred and George, who by the time HBP rolled around, were making money hand over fist. It simply wasn't their way.

Anyway, as for Fleur, yeah, she grew up, but I also wish she had remained a bit haughtier, just because there was so little conflict of personalities in the characters seen most often in the series. If Fleur had remained prickly or standoffish, it could have provided more in-depth character interaction, at least for those instances when Fleur was on-screen, so to speak. Probably my favorite Fleur moment is when she verbally eviscerates Molly Weasley at the end of HBP, and snatches the scar-healing potion from Molly's hands to treat Bill's injuries. *That* was a stellar moment, when she'd kept her tongue long enough and snapped back after all the snide comments she'd endured so stoically.

Then again, maybe that incarnation of Fleur did remain, and it was pretty much never seen because of the situations happening when she was shown. I mean, she's there at the beginning of DH, Polyjuiced as Harry. She makes a comment, but it *is* a life-or-death situation about to happen, so everyone is kinda subdued. She's there when Dobby brings Harry and crew to Shell Cottage, but again, it's a grave situation, having just escaped death. You see what I mean, I hope.

    TL;DR - Fleur: matured, Bill: probably kick-ass.

Heh, not to be a complete Debbie Downer, but you we have no clue what qualifies as proper women's hygiene in the wizarding world. Hermione - and other muggleborns - may very well be the only ones who take care of the hair "down there." (Say that 5x fast :awesome)

Witches could simply not shave, and charm their bushes invisible. Or it could be a part of Pureblood tradition to keep from shaving, because a spell on muff hair that attacks any male, Medusa-style, that tries to get a taste without paying the dowry.

...I honestly can't say which scenario is more terrifying.

    /TeamMuggleBornBushFTW

I lol'd hard at this XD

He probably doesn't get a very handsome sum (again, fucking goblins), so I'd wager that he loves what he does. That, and his mother is a worry-wart, so I doubt he really talks shop when he's around his family. Hell, his brother being a dragonhandler probably takes most of the heat off of him.

Regarding Shell Cottage, I think knowing that you're going to be a father changes one's priorities. If there was a war going on, and I had a working knowledge of who know's how many curses, I'd be hard pressed to leave my pregnant wife behind. If the war was in another country, sure - I'd ship out. But on my turf, against an enemy that knows my family's a bunch of blood traitors and married to (by their definition) a creature?

If I knew who Bill Weasley was and what he did, and he wasn't expecting me, I'd never set foot near anywhere he lived.

They're prideful enough that I could see them refusing any sort of aid - assuming he had those kinds of funds to spare (again, fucking goblins).

Well, as much as it bothers me in real life, there are a ton of people who literally have everything going for them. It's not a fanon/imaginary construction to portray someone who has a glamorous career, looks, and intelligence who can somehow keep from being a complete dick, because such people actually do exist.

That being said, it's not like Bill's the hero in the story, or even the one "training" Harry or some other bit of fanon nonsense. He just does his thing *shrug*

That's exactly how I see it. It's win-win for them to send talented wizards to do their work and bring back riches.

That said, just as I think that wizarding world customs and assessments are possibly way different than ours (see my thoughts on women's hygeine...lol), there's yet another separation between goblin and wizarding culture. Goblins probably both understate and approach what a wizard would see as extremely dangerous; perhaps goblin cursebreakers don't mind when a mission of 20 goblins ends with only two returning; maybe a curse that melts skin is perceived as a tickle, etc etc. Or maybe they simply aren't wired to get an adrenaline rush from anything but physically handling material wealth, such that everything that comes in between is lumped together as "boring" or a waste of time.

    This.

I guess your right, but it still irks me to no end, that the hero, who you're rooting for at the beginning ends up like, well, Canon/Harry and some random guy hits the jackpot for being there. ^^

    Anyway back to Fleur.

What do you think made her go back to Britain ?
She's a talented witch with a nice family in France and she knows that Voldemort is back.

That somehow reminds me of those News-reporter, who voluntarily travel in some conflict area.

Um, you're kidding, right? We've been talking about how Fleur and Bill work as a pairing, if Bill is awesome enough or not for her, how she changed over the years and stuff, and came to stay in The Burrow to get to know Bill's family because he has a hot werewolf dick and she doesn't wanna let go...

And you ask why she went back to England? Dude, between this one and your Hitler parody thread, you aren't doing yourself any favors.

Harry's first words on his wedding night: "Holy mackerel! What's that smell!!"

    Trufax.

Seriously, someone should write a crack-fic involving all the foibles of Muggleborns trying to navigate weird-ass Pureblood customs. As an American who's used to smooth armpits and legs on the ladies, of course the Euro-stereotype of unshaven pits and legs comes to mind, but an uber-bush and terrible dental hygiene and the wizarding world's version of an outhouse or corn-cob toilet paper also spring to mind.

Oddly enough, my dad grew up without electricity or indoor plumbing back in the day. He was pretty old, relatively speaking, when I was born, but where he grew up it wasn't uncommon to be without either of those things. Things sure change quickly, huh? At least that's what I think while I'm on my laptop, posting where people all over the world can theoretically read it, while charging my cell phone, etc., etc.

    You rang?

I don't remember this clearly, but didn't Fleur meet Bill after she moved to England and she started working at Gringotts?

From what I remember, Fleur and Bill met at the Triwizard tournament and liked each other (implied, I think). Then Ron tells Harry in OOTP that Fleur was working at Gringott's to "improve her English". In other words, she came to be with Bill and see where it went from there.

Really? I've always interpreted it as her meeting up with him again by chance, but your explanation does make more sense...

    Quoted from OOTP:

Doesn't really say, not precisely at least. What's clear is that she's in England, working at Gringotts. And apparently Bill dropped the tombs to help the Order.

But even if Fleur went to England just for her English, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think she would stay to be with Bill. It's the emotional bullcrap Rowling loves: sacrificing yourself for others.

Plus, France is next. When some psycho is apparently bent on world-domination and ethnic cleansing, that's occasionally enough to get people to take a stand. Her being close to Bill, an order member, would also give her a reasonable idea as to what is really going on.

In a sense, the war was already in Europe, what with the spies, and the recruiting and all that going on, but for the most part, it seems mostly within England. However, I think it would be pretty clear those involved that Voldemort wouldn't be satisfied with "just" the UK.

That could also be added incentive for Fleur to stay in England and help the war effort, in order to try and prevent it from properly reaching her home country's doorstep, in addition to the fact that she personally knows many people directly involved in the war effort.

It could also just be as simple as "Voldemort and his death eaters are some kind of assholes. Fuck them, I'm signing on with the Order."

That has happened a fair bit in the past. Such as, early on in the World Wars, prior to the American Government's official declaration of war, many Americans went abroad and signed up with groups like the French Foreign Legion.

I think people are much too hung up on the word war. For the average wizard, there arguably was no war. Thicknesse became Voldemort's puppet Minister in a single night, and the world went on. The Daily Prophet still printed papers. The Ministry still was as bureaucratic as ever. Hogwarts still was a school. It's not like WWII, it's like Nazi Germany pre WWII.

Point being, if you weren't exactly a Muggleborn, you could work, live and be happy. Better if you had purer blood and agreed with Voldemort's ideals, worse if you had more mixed blood or found the agenda disagreeable, but live all the same. And so it's not odd that Fleur stayed in Britain -- as long as she wasn't actively opposing Voldemort (or no one knew she did), she wouldn't be in danger; and if she did work with the Order, she had enough personal reasons to stay anyway.

I guess I can see your points for Fleur coming back, although they seem rather "unrealistic" and corny even for JKR.
But I still can't wrap my mind around her personality change.
As mentioned before, a bit more humility and less arrogance is alright considering her age.
But the way she's portrayed in book 6 and 7 in direct contrast to book 4, just seems way over the top.
Can you imagine a Tri-wizard-champion, with a probable bright career ahead, cooking and waiting for her husband to get home like some Molly Weasley.
That reminds me strongly of the Drittes Reich-view on women.
Stay at home, care for the kids.

If Fleur remains just a tad of her former self, than I would definitely see a future marriage crisis. (which I think would be funny to read about.)
