Our dear friend True Story decided to give neg rep "HAHAH BECAUSE I CAN!"

This is not fucking acceptable in any way, shape, or form.

We didn't upgrade the forums so idiots could clicky teh shiny buttons of DOOM or POWAH, we upgraded them for fun, better usablilty, and overall better performance.

Using the donation provided to us by wonderful users, to abuse is beyond fucking retarded, especially since now, if you screw up, it's a matter of seconds before it can be seen.

I issued a warning in another thread about not abusing it just for the hell of it, which evidentally True encountered while in the midst of an illiterate period.

I also warned that action would be taken against anyone stupid enough to play around with this new system. You all know I do not play when I ask you to follow a rule.

His post count has been reset, his avatar, sig, and ability to insert images removed, and his is banned for a week.

We've been lax on you lot lately, don't mistake it for a second that that means it's peachy now to do what you want, due to the fact you think the comments you leave in Rep are anon. They aren't to us.

I expected better of you True. You know better.

Leave the damned reason why you rep someone one way or the other, but if I continue to get emails despite multiple warnings now, of negative repping for absolute STUPID reasoning, you're not going to like what we do. I happen to like the system, even resetting my own rep to let it be in the user's hands , and I've championed the rep system to Raven to be used in PatronusCharm for reviewers long before we even even thought about VB. Don't abuse it.

Cup honestly I've had to restrain myself from negative repping you more times then I can count, due to Admin's rep carrying so much weight, I didn't want to send you into negative billions.

I'm not going to enforce stuff done to you, until you can prove to me you're not wasting our bandwidth with 80% of your posts.

You've gotten better with the slashes, and I appreciate your Pm to me on the poetry, but the next damned thing from you I want to hear regarding Rep is "I stopped posting like a dipshit, and it went up, WOOT!"

 

So ppl can give us bad rep because they can?!?

Is that the reason I went from "is on a distinguished road" to "is an unknown quantity at this point", or did I broke some kind of rule?

And how to tell?

Can our rep cause us to be banned from the forum?

 

I never really understood the reputation system.

As a process review, it is too open to abuse, and misuse...

Does this reputation process disallow adding (positive or negative) rep to the same board member in succession by the same user?

Paraphrasing the above, If I add to, say Lord Ravenclaw's rep, I should not be able to add to his rep again until I do the same to someone else, say for instance Hellsing Boy.

If so I can see that it plugs a few of my concerns about abuse of the system.

 

I rep people once every few weeks, I give negative to the members that are annoying, spamming, attention seeking, or are just looking to increase their post count. They usually write much less than this post with one word answers or say something like "I like this fic it was good". Very vauge posts, or arguments that are half developed or blatantly meant to piss the group off or are offensive to certain members.

I give positive rep for people who try and give good arguments in dicussions, leave lengthy reviews of why a fic is shit or is good. Even if I disagree with an argument, I won't go neg on their rep as long as they arn't just doing it to piss the group off. It is usually clear by how much effort they are willing to put into their point of view, examples, and links also don't hurt.
