I found this story while browsing the HP-section of ff.net, I then read it through and found it hillarious.

I then decided to share my experience with the gentlemen's and women's on this forum.

The story get's 4/5 from me.

It straddles the line between comedy and parody, which sometimes works... and sometimes doesn't. It's funny most of the time and she does a decent Lockhart.

    3.5/5, rounded up.

I liked it, reminded me of the Lockhart from 'Oh God not again'. 4/5.

That said, I like this story, but I never considered it Library material. It's the very definition of an average story to me. It does well what it's supposed to do, but doesn't have anything to make it great. A nice way to spend some time, with humor that, like T3t said, sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Solid 3/5, nothing more, nothing less.

There's much more damning criticism than getting "kinda funny" from DLP, really.

Heh, that's an understatement if I've ever read one.

Her profile was last modified before this particular story was posted, so it's likely from previous reviews that were a bit harsher. I'm too lazy to hunt them down atm.

4/5 on this fic from me, I've been following it since there were only a couple chapters. I really like her Lockhart (and how Harry demonstrates the 'famous' skills he was taught, in the latest chapter)

Yup, hit and miss comedy, as people have said. However, I did enjoy it quite a bit, so 4/5 from me.

I first started reading it when it was published, stopped at chapter 5 or 7 or something like that.

From what I remember, it's good for passing time if you have nothing else to do, and want some humor, but otherwise it couldn't really hold my attention.

    3/5

It looked like just another crack-fic at first, but eh, it wasn't that bad. It subverts cliches and does it in a humorous way.

I just found it plain boring.
I know its humor, but while I like other humor stores like the Mr. Black series, this one just fell flat. I didnt even felt like smiling anywhere in the first 7 chapters. The title was probably the most funny thing about the story. 1/5

Decent Fic undecided between Humor and crack. Some of the crack dialogue's while funny were also a tad off-putting.Maybe it's because I've read too much fanfiction.

    3.5/5 Rounded off.

I enjoyed it. Only one or two spelling/grammar mistakes jumped out at me when I read it. I liked most of the humor although some wasn't very funny. It also wavers along the comedy/parody line a bit.

I also loved Gilderoy's characterization and Dumbledore's almost over-the-top eccentricity.

    Overall 4/5 from me though.

I think it would be better suited staying in the Almost Recommendable section. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't read it again I don't think and I don't remember it being anything but a good time waster. 3/5

I've had this fic on my alerts for some time, and it's one I've enjoyed reading. The writing and premise alone give it a solid 3, but the very enjoyable characterization (of Lockhart in particular) pushes it up to 3.5-4/5.

It needs something a little extra, and a bit more polishing to get higher, but the potential is there, and it is all around a solid and enjoyable reading experience.

@Sarah12CryBaby: that's not a pet peeve, that's masochism. If you expect to see the same thing, exercise some discipline and stay the fuck away from DLP.

    That said: 4/5 from me.

I don't even know why she in particular feels that way about DLP. Her story "Oh God Not Again" was fairly well-received, if I remember correctly. I certainly enjoyed it.

This fic, however, is average. Mostly because I can't ever get into anything involving Lockhart as a main character. 3/5

Edit: Reading her profile, it seems she may be suffering from a not-insubstantial amount of over-defensiveness. Seriously, that is one long list of "please don't criticise me because of X and Y". Most of them give the same reason: "Don't criticise my fic for not being amazing at X, I never claimed it was". I wasn't aware that an author had to claim that their story was the best written/plotted/characterised/etc. before criticising these things became valid.

The rarity of occlumency books tells me that she should harden the fuck up.

I enjoy Sarah1281:s fics. I won't deny that. In fact, she's pretty damn good...

... Well, for the first ten or twenty of her stories that you read, anyway. After those? You just get used to it. You can see every joke coming from light years away, you know roughly how the plot is going to go and every twist Sarah's going to apply.

I'm not going to rate this fic: I've read a bit of it, and I suppose from an objective point of view it's pretty good, but I've just read too much of her stuff. It all looks the same after a while...
