    I hate Dumbledore.

I think Dumbledore may actually be evil.

The way Dumbledore pretty much cover up Sirius attempted murder on Severus, coerced Severus to keep silent and denied Severus justice really help push Severus to the dark side. Dumbledore also didn't insist on giving Sirius a trial. For example, Dumbledore could have given truth serum to Sirius in the middle of the Hogwarts dinner hall during dinner time. With that much witness, even the minister would not execute Sirius and will be force to exonerate

Sirius. But that means Sirius would work to take over the guardianship of Harry from Dumbledore. Dumbledore want to keep Harry "down to earth" by putting him into an abusive environment with the Dursleys. With Ms. Figg in the order, there is no way that he doesn't know about the abuses.

Dumbledore also tried to portrait himself as a caring grandfather like figure. But he kept on putting Harrying into dangerous situations and letting people abuse him.

For example, the stone doesn't HAVE to be place in Hogwarts. He and the professors could have taken Harry and friends more serious about the stealing of the stone incident. A couple of kids doesn't have to be placed into danger.

Dumbledore could have laid down the punishment to stop the bullying from Malfoy, the bigotry from others-like in Triwizard tournament. If Dumbledore really fought Umbridge on the blood quill issue, he could have done something.

The adult keep using Harry like a tool.

Also, letting Voldemort and his pureblood bigot supporter run wild for so not and not fight them like truth serum them fast then giving real punishment.. causes many death among the innocent and the “good” people. It is likely that the numbers of deaths/sufferings for the “light, innocent and good” people actually are higher in the “let’s sacrifice Harry path” than if Dumbledore make an all out war with killing and real justice administer during the conflict with the death eaters/Voldemort. So he can’t say that “I’m doing this for the innocent”. Dumbledore choose because of his bias for the evil purebloods.

And in the end, Dumbledore's ultimate plan is to let a person that has suffered, harmed and pained so much under his guardianship and plan to take the killing curse and likely be sacrificed in the process. Actually, what’s to stop Voldemort to send a cutting curse to Harry after he gave him a killing curse, or to use other curses. Make no mistake, Dumbledore know that he is likely sending Harry to die – not unlike those World War two anti-tank or police sacrificial deadly things sniffing dogs. But the difference is an innocent human child is “gloomed” and brainwash through abuse, torturing actions, injustice and such so that he would act not unlike those sacrificial - disposable lab mice. People like Ariel Castro kidnapped young sex slave girls and attempted these kinds of brainwashing technique on them. Note that it failed in Ariels case – it failed partly because the girls supported on another. It is interesting when you see how Dumbledore isolated Harry from his real friend – Hermione and others after Sirius death. A lot of other actions like prefect choice also support that Dumbledore was isolating Harry from others support and maybe gaining the ability to choose differently.

So to summarize, Dumbledore intentionally keep an innocent boy nice, meek, easy to control and willing to sacrifice himself by forcing him to live in abusive place, have no other choice that he should have. In the end, he plotted to have that innocent person die for the wizarding world in his plan, while there other ways to win the way-details given below.

Compare that to Dumbledore's treatment of the guilty Malfoy, where is Harry's first chance to really live? Dumbledore tried to save Malfoy, who actually did a very guilty thing of slipping the death eaters into Hogwarts.

Dumbledore could have just harshly punished all the Death Eaters. This way, there's no one to join Voldemort and he could be imprisoned. Given the dementor kiss to them all. Dead death eaters can't be of use to Voldemort. Without followers, just one Voldemort have little power and present only a small danger to the world. Also, why couldn’t the light side just stun, petrify, imprison Voldemort (e.g. with so daunt of the living dead that he’s in coma…) or something like that.. There are other ways to win the way – ways that somehow Dumbledore didn’t pursuit. Dumbledore sacrifice many muggleborn for the sake of “redeeming” a guilty few / preserving the bigot pureblood traditions.

Dumbledore betrayed those innocent who was forced-tricked-indoctrinated by Dumbledore to trust him. I mean Dumbledore plan to have Harry killed. And all Harry could have taken his money-vault and left Britain to safety by a really caring and loving guardian.

And it is impossible for purebloods to win the war. If the worst happens, the light can co- operate with the muggles. The muggles have guns, really big and deady weapons and numbers. With the magical ability of the light and the deadliness of the muggles, the death eaters don't have a chance. But it would destroy the pureblood centric wizarding world. So Dumbledore choose this path not for the greater good of the innocent, but just the greater good of purebloods.

Are you sure you've actually read the books and not just fanfiction?

Wow. That's a lot of text. Enough that I won't be able to explain why the whole thing is idiotic in a reasonable timeframe, and will need to focus on the most egregious parts of this post.
Teenagers are idiots. Everybody knows that. Dumbledore thought that people who will probably grow out of stupidity deserve second chances. And guess what? it worked well. Sirius grew up to be a decent person.
And, judging from Snape's memories in book 7, it was peer pressure that pushed Snape to Voldemort. Snape was friends with Avery and Mulciber, people who, according to Lily, used Dark Magic on other students.

Hermione - She is a complete cunt and I despise her.

Dumbledore - Misguided fool. Harry is better off without him in his life.

Harry - Pathetic person. Give me Fanon!Harry over the useless pussy in canon anyday.

Ron - Useless waste of space who Harry would be better of without.

Why are you on a Harry Potter fan site if you so dislike the 4 main characters?

To be fair most of 2005 DLP hated them too. As do many people who are in Taure's second stage in fanfiction.

Posted in full because it is sort of relevant to this thread. Though I think stages 2 and 3 go together. And I always liked canon-compliant stories and Harry/Ginny stories, so YMMV, but it is true in general.

I'm pretty sure Harry would have died 10 times over if not for Dumbledore.

The Prophecy protects Harry. Harry does not need Dumbledore's protection. This is why I love the Harry breaking free from Dumbledore genre so much.

I don't get your point. What do you mean? Do you think Harry could be killed by a say a random Death Eater even with the prophecy? Besides Dumbledore's protection was a failure in every way with the yearly struggles Harry had to face.

There's more than one interpretation of "Either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives." Sure, it could mean that Harry and Voldemort can only die if it's by the hand of the other. But I doubt it.

More likely it just means that Harry will be able to live a normal, happy life, if Voldemort is still alive - and as he's the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord, that means killing him. And that Voldemort will never be able to truly secure his place in life - as the greatest, most powerful wizard of all time - if he doesn't kill Harry.

Voldemort always had a choice in the matter, regarding Harry. There were a ton of times where the Death Eaters could have killed him. But Voldemort wanted to do it himself. Just the same, Harry could have run away instead of sacrificing himself. It just so happens that the events that occurred coincided with the prophecy.

I get your point but I still disagree with the

How many times was Harry in danger and had to protect himself despite having Dumbledore's protection? Hell Dumbledore couldn't even protect Harry from the abuse of the Dursleys. So Harry without Dumbledore's protection wouldn't have died 10 times over.

    - Living with the Dursleys protected Harry from death eaters and Voldemort. If Harry had gone to a magical family to be raised he would have been targeted by death eaters. I'm pretty sure being hunted down and tortured and/or killed (like the Longbottoms) would be worse than being neglected by the Durselys.

Most of the time when Harry is in danger it is mainly his own fault:

    - 1st year: Dumbledore saved Harry from being killed by Quirrell. Dumbledore didn't put Harry in the way of danger at all, in fact Harry and the stone would have been fine had he just minded his own business because only someone who didn’t want to use the stone could retrieve it from the mirror.

    - 2nd year: Harry, instead of going to Dumbledore and explaining what’s happening with Ginny and the Basilisk, decides to go to the Chamber of secrets with Ron and Lockhart, who he knows is a fraud.

    - 5th Year: Harry decides to fly to the ministry to ‘save’ Sirius instead of telling Dumbledore and getting help. Dumbledore shows up and stops Voldemort from killing Harry.

    Notice a theme?

While I agree with your point (Dumbledore isn't the cause of everything bad) I'm quite curious how you think he had the option of going to Dumbledore in those two situations. He wasn't exactly readily available.

I guess my point is more that he acts rashly. Instead of trying to get help from adults, he just dives head first into danger, expects to be praised if he succeeds and acts surprised if he fails.
