Look at her in Fight Club when she's fucking Pitt. She's hot.

I don't understand people's hatred for Oldman as Sirius Black. He isn't the best man for the job, but he sure as hell isn't the worst. He looks grimy and nasty enough to have just gotten out of Azkaban and he played the part of an emotionally torn man still with the mind of a twenty year old pretty well.

    Characters which were cast well.
Hagrid: No one else could have done it better.
    Lucius Malfoy:pERFECT
Draco: 1st two movies he was great
    Ron: Witless mutha fucker....check
Hermione: Needed to stay plain and bland as in the first 2 movies
1st Dumbledore: That was a perfect performance
Snape: His voice and mannerisms were spot on in the first and second movies but with the dismissal of Chris Columbus as director he became a second banana for the purposes of comedic in the third - fifth movies.
Luna: Damn, the shit director cast well for once.
    Twins: Spot on.
Dursleys: Perfect in the first two movies

Characters which need to change NOW
Moody: Completely contrary to my vision, needed a real bulging blue eye Should have cast: Clint Eastwood

Tonks: Fucking trainwreck, needed to be younger and more bubbly
Voldemort: Ralph Fiennes was good in Red Dragon but voldie spoke in a hissing wisper and wasn't the jolly green giant sans nose.

all I can fathom now, more later.

I liked Gary Oldman in POA, he had the right temprement there, I loved the line "Come out, come out and play" or whatever it was.

That would be the only way to see Harry run with a katana and chop off Death Eaters heads - and only this once it would be made of win.

But the best part would be the one-liners.
Parseltongue, motherfucker, do you speak it!? :D

Damn. Somebody need to write HP/Pulp Fiction kind of story.

I like Lupin and his facial hair.

What about Rita Skeeter, I thought she was completely wrong.

The thing that really gets me about this is that if you take a look at him in Moulin Rouge, he looks much more like Slughorn.

    Rotund? Check.
    Mustache? Check.

He couldn't have regrown the 'stache and worn some padding for HBP? Really?

Did they become gun-shy after reading the feedback on 'Chester the Molester' Lupin and decide on a no more mustaches policy, or maybe Broadbent tried it and said, "No. No, I'm just not feeling it. My character would not wear a mustache, he doesn't feel like the sort of fellow who would wear one. I can't do this, I must go and shave at once."

I haven't heard enough about him to know if he's one of those types of actors or not.

Maybe they just assume that the viewing audience will be a pack of colossal retards and that if they see a chunky guy with a mustache, they'll think he's Vernon Dursley and just get confused.

I would probably recast Lupin (he is nothing like I pictured him to be), Neville (the same) and Ginny (no comments needed...).

The rest of them I have no love/hate for.

The Director. Even with all the currently pathetic actors/actresses, it's the director that makes the movie.

    And this one sucks.

I personally, rather enjoyed Alan Rickman as Snape, if only for the fact that I've watched Galaxy Quest innumerable times, and if you watch the HP movies with his performance from Galaxy Quest in mind (ie: not watching them seriously) his acting is hillarious.

Yep. Now picture Snape "By the moons of Galtor, you will be avenged!"

or whatever it was he said.

First of all; replace the Director with half of the DLP crew; let's end the HP series our own way fgs!

    Characters I think are fine;

    Hagrid - Brilliant
The Twins - How I imagined them, though they need to be shorter
Ron - Tall idiot but kinda tempremental.. check
Hermione - Her hair needs working on, as does her fecking annoying accent, but meh..
    Luna - Perfect
    Lucius Malfoy - Again, perfect.
Draco - A nice match, though puberty was awful to him --. he looks more like a ponce now.
Sirius - Considering the screen time, Gary Oldman was well suited, though PoA was his best of the 3.
    McGonnagal - Another good choice
Snape - Rickman can do Snape, but as someone said earlier, he needs more... agression.
Bellatric - Once again, good choice.

The rest I'm wondering about really.. I liked Tonks, though perhaps she could've been older.
Slughorn - Recast, awful choice. End of.
Dumbledore - Gambon is awful! I'll happily cheer when that bastard takes the plunge. Dumbledore from 1 & 2 was so much better.. his name escapes me for now =(. As for a replacement for him.. I'd have said Peter O'Toole or Ian Mckellen.
Cho - Lose the Scottish accent.
Neville - He was perfect in the first two, afterwards? Not so..

Anyone i've not mentioned I suppose i'm not that bothered about.. Voldemort seems good to me, the way I imagined him really. Nobody else springs to mind really, other than I hope Scrimgeour is actually decent.

Oh! I wish they'd throwin Bill in too.. He needs at least SOME screen time =\.

Harry - Radcliffe looked more like him when he was younger, and have never really pictured Harry's face because you read from his point of view, and thus in his shoes.

James - Someone who resembles Radcliffe in his early twenties. The directors just can't picture a "dad" that young.

Lily - Some petite Redhead, early twenties, plain looking.

Ron - Could've been taller. Originally I imagined him more plain, but could stay the same.

Hermione - I know see Emma as Hermione which isn't like the books, but just give her bushier hair (I have a feeling they've tried, but she had her way) if only her acting was on form.
From what I've seen of Emma outside the movies she is the opposite of her character.

Sirius - Gary Oldman was just older than I pictured him. Would have physically suited the role a little younger.
    http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l146/GalleryGuru/Featured%20Actor%20Threads/Gary%20Oldman/oldman_rosencrantz_55.jpg

Remus - Just change the hair up a little, and no moustache.

Snape - I'm one of the people who always pictured him with a goatee, was actually shocked when I saw this older chap with a face that's not as gaunt as I expected. Maybe someone who resembled Marilyn Manson without make-up plus goatee.
Although I think generally Rickman is one of the better actors in the movies. Does lack that cold fury that seems to be under the surface, he also doesn't portray the bully Snape that delights in tormenting Harry.

Draco - Was alright in the first films but doesn't really irritate me enough to hate his character.

    Ginny - http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=26015078hb5.jpg
This kid could have played her from 11 up.

The Weasley twins - I've always pictured them tall and the movie's close enough.

Bill - I picture him resembling Axl Rose in terms of hair and figure. Tied back like in "Don't Cry"
When Harry describes him as looking "cool" etc, I picture him to be into rock, grunge, alternative music etc and reflect the looks of that time.

Patil Twins - Just find some hot bollywood actresses, at this stage they might as well get chicks in their 20's seeing as the other kids are older than their characters now
If they could clone this chick, it'd be great. She was in Run fat boy, run http://www.exposay.com/celebrity-ph...run-london-movie-premiere-arrivals-BkVZgd.jpg
Slughorn - Give him a Walrus moustache and a fat suit at least.

Dumbledore - Originally I preferred Gambon as a tougher Dumbledore, he didn't seem as frail. But looking back I'd have to agree on a cross between the two, and cut Gambon's "Dumbledore" accent.
    Lol'd at Warlocke's link.

Cho - As with many characters I often imagine them better looking. Cho's pretty but I pictured her more... hot. Ditto no scottish accent.

Fleur - Some smoking hot blonde French with class, or at least someone who can pull of a french accent.
They may as well have given her some kinda glow even though they ignored the veela aspect.

Now that I think of it, Fleur should have been Laetitia Casta. True, she's a bit old for the part, but in the books I always imagined her similar to the french model/actress.

Not that Clémence Poésy(NSFW!) is a bad choice, though.

Well, time to offer my thoughts on casting:

Harry: Needs to be replaced with someone who is a bit better at delivering his lines rather than just reading them off of a script; Radcliffe seriously fails whenever he has to do anything more than act like a socially stunted teenager. Also, he really doesn't have the sort of screen presence that the hero of the story ought to have; he comes across as a whiny teenage brat we're watching the story through rather than the hero.

Sirius: Oldman was good for the role, but whoever decided he should have lots of tatoos ought to be shot.

Snape: Rickman can probably still work in the role, but as others have said he needs to be a little more visceral in his hatred of Harry and generally petty and nasty. The first movie was decent in that regard, but since then he hasn't been nearly as cruel and petty as he ought to be. I can't see Rickman's Snape blatantly abusing his power for petty revenge; at best he comes across as willing to be harsh and vindictive when Harry challenges him.

Dumbledore: As others have said, Gambon fails to deliver on the image of Dumbledore as a venerable elder; his portrayal is too intense when in the books Dumbledore was always fairly calm and unbothered (or at least always appeared that way). Harris' Dumbledore was much truer to his portrayal in the books as a kind but slightly eccentric old man; while Dumbledore can certainly fight and manipulate, he never gets angry and his manipulative side only showed around Snape. Instead of a kindly Grandfather figure Gambon comes across as a pissed-off uncle with a chip on his shoulder.

Hermoine: I think they cast her fairly well, but she's drifted over the course of the movies in her portrayal. In Sorceror's Stone she was more reserved and bookish, and she always had that slightly annoying lecturing tone to her voice. Unfortunately, Watson's temperament just doesn't seem to be suited to portraying a bookish, reserved, lecturing and not particularly attractive role.

Fleur: Clémence Poésy was a fine casting choice, but the makeup, hairstyle, and wardrobe were all wrong for the Fleur. She looked way too severe in most of her scenes, and the directors never even really tried to make her look like a quarter-veela who half the male population of Hogwarts fantasized about. She has the right qualities for the role, just the wrong portrayal.

What Fleur should have looked like.

However, above all else they really ought to have just stuck with a single director for the Harry Potter movies; bouncing around between different directors with different styles and ideas about how things ought to be done has probably hurt the series far more than any poor casting choice could have. It's rather jarring to watch a series of films that are all part of series, yet often have completely different styles and directions. Out of the directors they've had Columbus was probably my favorite for doing a good job of capturing the feel of the early books (though I'm not sure how he would have handled the increasingly dark tone of the later films) while Cuarón was my least favorite as he made lots of changes I considered pointless and removed important events from the books in favor of adding his own often nonsensical original scenes. Plus, he created pedo-Remus and tattoo-covered Sirius, both of which rather annoyed me.

Billie Piper would have made an awesome Tonks... though I think my enthusiasm about it is because I have a huge girl crush on her. Eh what can you do.

Harry needs to be recast... Daniel has the wrong build and flat hair, Harry Potter has-.. Tenth Doctor hair in my head.
