I love Harry/Bellatrix, it is by far my favorite pairing.

But, recently, I thought about it all and I wondered what made me like it?

Now, granted, I don't like Harry/Bella romance. Just Hate/Lust relationships that lead to great torture/sex scenes!

I think its the whole forbidden realtionship thing, and the fact that she's insane makes it better. The whole torture master thing hints at a good match for Harry's quick temper - massive hate between them can switch to a romp.

What do you think?

 

Hmm...myself, I don't particularly like it. I don't dislike it, but I prefer something like Harry/ravenclaw girl or if you want an older woman Narcissa.
I used to like H/bella alot, just like I used to like H/femblaise, but I like them less now...maybe its just that stained future sabataged that pairing for me, I dunno.

 

H/Bella is the equivalent of H/Ginny before HBP. Oh look there's a character we don't know much about and she's a female. Let's turn her into a perfect partner for Harry! Now she's drop dead gorgeous, a little crazy but also fun to be with.

Oh and she's an escaped convict from Azkaban, killed Sirius, tortured the Longbottoms, a crazy lunatic, not beautiful anymore, hates Harry's guts and was the one person goody-two-shoes Harry has ever cursed with an unforgivable.

However I do like some H/Bella (aka Mary-Sue) where it's not logical but it's fun and different. But now that the masses have grabbed hold of Bella she's not so fun anymore, more of an offput. still there is the odd fic where she's done well...

 

never really liked harry/bella. it was just too far fetched to get into it.

 

I personally think the teen boy appreciation for Harry/Bella is in direct response to the teen girl infatuation with Harry/Snape. Or Snape in general.

It's about seeing through what they are, and being the one to 'fix' her. That's why most of the first few Harry/Bella's all involved her being misunderstood, or under Imperius. She never wanted to kill Sirius, hence it was a stunner, etc.

The idea that she's attractive is just as canon-based as Snape being attractive (we all remember what Sirius looked like coming out of prison... and he was innocent).

Liking something others will find distasteful is a sort of natural reaction to wanting to be different and standing out. Seeing things others can't see.

And basically, she's the stand-in of a love/hate pure animosity character for Harry. Most boys can't stomach the slash, so no Harry/Voldie or Harry/Snape, but Harry/Bella sits just fine with them. Sex as punishment, domination/submission, pain as pleasure, sadomasochism, etc... You won't get these things from a Ginny or a Hermione. But if you can write an enemy's wife (or sister/daughter) as hot and unfulfilled... presto. Instant popular deviant behavior. It hurts the enemies, provides release for the hero, and maintains the counter-culture feel of rebellion. Even if it's not written well, those facts give a fic an audience automatically.

H/B just creeps me out, the only way it is readable is if harry is evil, the way Lord Silvre portrays her is just wrong. When people have bella seeing the error of the ways it just sickens me..

 

I agree totally. One of the greatest reasons to like Bella is her Psycho/Torture Mistress/Insane mentality.

How else would you have the brutal torture/sex scenes?

I dont see why people have to try and fix bella in order to have a hot older woman with harry, if you want a hot older woman, narcissa is there and tonks could turn herself into one ( i hate the whole "oh tonks, ur natural form is so beautifull, dont ever change!" thing)

Bella is only good for the sick twisted torture/sex/painforpleasure scene, and there are not enough fics ot there that potray her that way

 

They make her hot because there isn't anybody else willing to engage in torturesex.

Plus, what good is Tonks. She's good. Narcissa is too much in the background, and not too evil, just "bad".

Bellatrix is probably the most evil woman in the entire series. Her evilness is only surpassed by Voldemort himself.

The whole Sleeping with the Enemy thrill doesnt work with Tonks and Narcissa. Plus, Narcissa has Draco, that makes things awkwards.

 

Actually, I don't think it would make thing awkward, It would just give something to Harry that would really rile Dracy-poo up. How would you feel when you find out that the person you hate the most was banging your mum on the side. That'd be enough to give anyone an anurism, and several decades of deep therapy.

Oh, and if anyone was sleeping with my mom, I would perform many of the various acts I have included in the Ginny Kill Off post I did on Friday.

That and:

Castrate with a rusty needle, use their balls as target practice to improve my fork throwing, introduce them to Ginny, Skin their back and use up a whole package of salt, introduce my prank tazer to their bare nerves, shove the remains of their dick up their ass, *cough*,

They do that because it's the most realistic reason to love her. If Harry said he loved her or even just liked her but he wants her to change herself into someone she isn't then it's not really her she likes is it?

I agree that the "Fired a stunner and accidently sent Sirius through the veil" Bella sucks, even though that's the one I wrote awhile back . Of course it wasn't as played out then as it is now.

 

I know this may be hard to accept, but I'm pretty sure your dad slept with your mom. I'm not certain, but the odds call it 'highly likely.'

I mean sheesh. Mom's deserve hot and dirty love too. Hopefully someone other than you is fulfilling that duty.

Personally I like Bella as a character because she has so much potential (read: JKR didn't develop her as much as she could/should have).

Well until she ruined her in HBP and turned her into a whiny little bitch (read Chapter 2 and you'll understand).

Probably leave the room and get drunk based off the mental image of mom having sex.

Sadly, I've never really had a worst enemy, so I could only comment on my own mom's poor taste. Though, if we're talking Cissy's age nailing a young buck, you've got to hand it to her for attracting a younger man.

I've never felt irrationally overprotective of my mother or sister. Mistakes like those are theirs to make. Though if they get hurt, I'd happily find a creative way to destroy the man.

Carefully edited pictures of him screwing the old lady submitted to the right people works well (parents, bosses, significant others, and especially parents of significant others). And there's a multitude of things you can do these days thanks to the internet.

But going all 'Weasley' on him wouldn't ever occur to me.
