So I recently purchased a new laptop for a family member. Its an HP, 2.1 Ghz, 4GB of Ram and Runs an AMD Athelon 64 Bit chip.
I noticed an issue with restarting it. Whenever I clicked start, and then pressed restart, it would switch to the blue screen you see when you first enter windows and it says on the screen "Logging Off" with that circle spinning right beside it, indicating that it was working on closing the programs left and logging off.

The problem is that it simply stops there, it goes on an on with "Logging off" still on the screen and the circle spinning but nothing else and I am forced to shut it off by holding power button.

Currently it's on Vista Service pack 1 home premium so I am not sure whether its a Software issue or something more?
I just bough it last week and contemplating whether to return it and get another one?

Solution: Get Ubuntu or Windows 7 and remove Vista. >_>

Over all, I think 7 is better than Vista, but my preference is still XP.

If you're on Vista, upgrade to Vista Service Pack 2, apparently its supposed to be better. As well as, get Windows 7 as soon as possible, its a nice fix to a shitty OS previously.

Upgrading to Ubuntu is pretty drastic, especially if the family member doesn't know anything about using Linux.

Once again, only truth flows from Vash's awesome words.

I just got my mother (who isn't much of a computer person) on Ubuntu. Other than not being able to play her games, she says it's pretty much the same.
