I'm not using any meta on miner. It was a jester game, and I don't think it counts for much.

Why do you read as town? What posts in particular scream townie to you?

So you are mindmelding with both Jan and TDS?

---------- Post automerged at 08:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:53 PM ----------

Just for clarify, tom, could you quote one of TDS' posts and break it down. Or how it relates how you have been thinking so far in this game? Right now, I have nothing on you that sheds some light on how you are thinking or processing the game. Maybe, I need to reread the thread and focus more on reading you or figuring you out. But right now it seems like you are agreeing with a lot of people, which frankly either alignment could do, which maybe scares me a little. Maybe, part me feels like or wonders if you are just sheeping what they are saying. But I don't know.

Koalas is your read of me and SlipperyAxII linked? Or do have more non-associated reasons to suspect the both of us?

Nah, I feel no particular mindmeld with TDS.
I couldn't really even tell you what his stances are (and no, quoting and rereading is just not gonna happen on mobile).
But every time I read his posts I just see his approach/mindset/whatever.
He's got no guile. There's no sign of manipulation or ulterior motive. He's just chugging along thinking like a townie.
It's pretty easy to read a new player that wears their heart on their sleeve.
I'm surprised anyone is even questioning it.

Nope, that's the reason I stopped playing mafia in real life, when some fag used to come up with dumb idiotic reasons to vote someone out and the rest of the 'fun' circlejerkers would join him and effectively ruin the game.

eg. A: "D owes me 5$, let's vote him out"
B: "Hey he owes me 2.50$, I agree"
    C: ".....OK!"

D gets voted out. D is a strong character. Game is ruined.

I hate fucking morons who say "I just wanna have fun" and then Shit on the game. Fuck them.

    Uh...

That would make you my savior.

He's the Lead in Mad Men. He's primarily an uber-cool guy whose standard reaction to things is a smirk and a raised eyebrow.

And in my books, everyone falls under one of these.

I'm just wondering, what personas do these people play when they're scum? Is anyone known for having witch tells? Someone being super reticent? Someone being hyperactive? Someone acting clueless?

Side note: what's the chance on an update to WYLB or TLS in the next 6 months?

I want to see your reads as well, since you're getting a fresh start for the most part.

    Okay so

Vira's first posts seem super flat.

Super early gut townread on Von for this; however he also RVSs Vira which kinda pinged me as possible w/w with Vira's flat opening. Ehh.

Vira/Jan sparring about Pokemon early is mrgle. Wanna say not knowingly aligned but that's super thin.

    That doesn't feel w/w

Also that "how dare you" is pretty Sloth/Mal/dC "early jokey tone falling flat" scum archtype. Might be confbias'ing there.

    Reeeeeeeeach

Jan continuing to talk pokemon makes me want to kill him, but objectively it's probably alignment agnostic

Ehhh. Not seeing how you got there. Elaborate?

True, but also ~fluffy~ to say that.

It's a stupid read that I don't know how much I actually believe, but I think adding that emoticon makes Kalas >rand wolf.

If I'm right on that one, I already have a postgame gif queued up.

Not w/w with Kalas; too stark I think.

Still not seeing the owner thing. Based on the two posts she's made up to this point, it's ???

Yeah like. I'm having trouble just parsing what owner's trying to say, nevermind trying to pick out alignment indicative things.

The fuck, Waco...? You weren't even in that FS game where Citrus did that.

Ew. ew ew ew ew ew. Does the last part make it better, or worse? Ehhh. Worse?

    That's pretty villagery though

Another gutping on town Snowvon; agenda-less, non-flaily? Something like that.

    Still flat

Jan continuing to shitpost up to this point is starting to feel actually witch indicative?

First thing I've disliked about owner; hypocrisy is not scum-indicative.

    Yeeeeeah

    Vote: Vira

Okay that's far enough by Jan that this can only be a gimmick. It went so far it went all the way back around to being not alignment indicative I think? Still kinda want to kill him though.

I like Jan asking that question; feels like he's trying to Figure Things Out. Pretty thin.

I'm just going to be over here, tunneling Vira into the depths of the Earth's core.

Says the girl with the new, weird avatar.

I like this exchange and I think at the very least it makes fonti/Snowvon not w/w.

This is kind of a weird look from Von. It reminds me of how he plays on MTGS more. It's like he's playing with a chip on his shoulder. I'm not sure if it says anything about his alignment but it's like the "Waco copying Citrus's intro post from a game on another forum he wasn't even in" thing. Kind of just, "bluh?"

It's going to take someone being a pretty giant scumlord between now and the end of the thread for me to move my vote.

That's a pretty towny thought to have.

Yeah, that is NOT a w/w conversation. Strongest read of the game so far. I'd probably hardclear the other if one of them flipped wolf.

Also tangentially more as a reminder to myself; tom's thing on fonti here - where he's got a strategy for reading her or whatever - is a thing I want to talk about later but very specifically not talk about now. Someone remind me about this if I forget about it.

I think Jan's followup to this is pretty decent; however I disagree with him, I think this answer makes Miner more town than not. The asymmetrical reads - paying way more attention to one person than the other two - feel to me like it's /not/ fake, like he just went with whatever was in his head. I also agree with Jan that the read on Snowvon is /bad/ if you actually compare those two games, but Snowvon's "effort" here - I'm extrapolating for Miner's PoV here - would probably be more about Von's level of actually describing reasons for reads. Which, on that level, is similar, because that's not a thing Von really does in a traditionally towny way as either alignment.

    Does that make sense?

Hrnngrble. Is that a bus? That might be a bus.

I absolutely would look in Kalas, Miner, Slippery if Vira flips scum, but that's kinda where I wanted to look anyway, so...

I like both the Vira push and the Miner read here; lean town on Waco for thinking what I'm thinking.

This I don't really get though. Elaborate? I liked tom's thing on Vira where he pushed on her for faking name confusion or something. I mean that read could be a complete whiff but I believe he believed it and it's the kind of oddball thing that scum don't reeeeeeally tend to think up? Although, tom, so... yeah, idk, what felt off to you?

Saying it out loud and musing about it to the thread would be pretty ballsy for newbscum?

    I can see it, though.

[up to post 200, kinda starting to skim a little at this point, note to self to maybe re-read from here over the weekend]

    lol

    Agreed.

Strong gut townlean for this plus the previous thing, plus the fact that she's pushing on Vira.

Okay yeah I need a break. I'll read the rest of the thread later.

Up to 221 I think Vira is strongly scum. Owner's probably my top townread which makes me worried Von was getting out in front of that a little, and he /is/ playing with a chip on his shoulder but I think on balance this is enough unlike scum!Snowvon that it's proooobably not? Don't want to lynch toDay, at any rate.

Fonti, Jan, and tom are kinda all in the "not really townreads it's more like they don't really /fit/ with my scumreads."

Waco had a good post that I really agreed with, don't want to lynch him today.

Miner gun to my head is town here and mislynch bait. Dunno how strong that read is really until push comes to shove; probably not going to step in front of a bullet for him, but in a non-WH game I might. I dunno, it's close.

    Kalas, SlipperyAxe -> Not Town.

    TDS is uh.

If the game is really boring then all three witches are in [Vira, Kalas, SlipperyAxe, TDS, Kai].

May or may not get around to reading the rest of the thread tonight; that was a brutal four days of work and rehearsals for me.

    Hey Newcomb!!

re My thoughts on Tom: It's just a gut read that I've had, I just feel like he's been a bit more restrained than last game, and felt a bit defensive when I poked at it. I do concur with you he has had some good points, which is why he's more in FoS territory than a scum read.

Town point to you for your thoughts on Vira's #186. Noticed that but was hoping for her to give me a lead on the other teammate before I pointed it out
