Whose heard of wizard rock, or wrock? Allow me to provide a few links for your perusal.

A song from youtube by Harry and the Potters.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fib1E0uJuEI

And a website devoted to it with song lists.
    http://realwizardrock.com/

    Have you viewed them?

"Are you scared to go down the hallways?"
"We have to save Ginny Weasley from the basilisk."

Yep, there are people out there that have turned the events and characters of the Harry Potter Universe into song. Thus far, NONE I have heard are any good. I read about them in TIME magazine, you heard right. In TIME.

Apparently, Harry and the Potters have been doing this for eight years. They don't concentrate on doing the music and singing part right, just making sure they put their all into it on stage.

Truly, I can make no remark about it that they themselves have not portrayed. I personally liken it to fanfiction, save I have yet to find any gems in the genre.

EDIT: Found this gem! :). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bpzd5jVg7yk&feature=related

Heard about this ages ago, bunch of people trying to cash in on the success of the books.

    And failing to make music.

I'm sure there's a thread about this already.

I actually looked and could not find one, which surprised me to no end since I was positive something like this would have been ridiculed on this forum ages ago.

It could become popular if it was half ass decent. However, that is not the case.

I'll be damned. I can get technical and say that in that thread you guys only ridiculed one or two bands, where as this thread is more broadly focused on the genre as a whole.

Eh. Oh well. If I double threaded a topic, my bad.

And Zarent...what is your secret for searching. This inquiring mind wants to know.

While I've always thought that "Voldemort and the Death Eaters" sounded like a heavy metal band, I've yet to find anything of redeeming value in the whole wizard rock mess.

I posted the 'I'm a dragon and I don't care' on another forum that I visit, and remember it because it is one of the few threads that I actually started.

Therefore, I remembered that I got it from here, and searched for 'I'm a dragon and I don't care' or something like that, and still had to wade through a crapload of threads to find it.

[Why does the search not filter out 'I' >_>]

I surprised the search engine here doesn't allow you to search for phrases, which would cut back on a lot of the extra posts and threads that pop-up in the search.

I'm not trying to condemn anyone by saying this, but these guys basically built two websites and maintain them. They have special features abounding all over the place, so finding that missing in the search engine was a bit strange for me.

The majority of wizard rock bands are complete shit, they only do well for themselves because of their "creative" lyrics. The only band that I have heard that is worth listening to is Ministry of Magic. But that's my personal opinion, you don't have to agree.

Oh man, I cringe every time I see the term wrock. >.< That said, there was one song I heard a few years ago that I liked. Fucked if I can recall what it was though.

You'll find them all over MySpace.

    I'm actually a fan of...

    Mudbloods

Particularly, their song "Voldemort: A Love Song".

    Remus Lupins, The

Any of his songs are rather well done.

Always a bit of something good in every shitstorm.

This really isn't anything new. Weird Al parodies a lot of songs. Wrock is simply another kind of parody - with books instead of songs.

As a side note, TIMES magazine has become truly trashy lately. Switch to the Economist!

The point is that these aren't parodies - the people who do this are just REALLY into Harry Potter. I like my fanfiction just fine, but wrock is a bit much for me.

I like to pretend I have a life, thank you very much.
