How is the Minister of Magic elected, is he elected? who votes? How do you get on the wizengamot, what is the wizengamot? How do you determine how much the wizengamot are at a trial?


I don't know but i find this fascinating, as we aren't really shown how the ministry works. But i do know the PM doesn't select the MoM. If that was the case the Muggle PM wouldn't be surprised in the first chapter of HBP. Does the Queen know then?

but seriously I'm sure JKR has an idea but I doubt it fits into the books so maybe when she makes those encyclopedias or whatever she says is the only other HP thing she'll do comes out it'll have more of this background info.

Oh i truly doubt we'll see this information the books, but it would on how the wizarding world relates to the muggle one, as in size, location and such.

 

I would imagine that the Wizangamot is something like the House of Lords used to be. They would probably have complete creation power of laws, and veto power of Ministerial Decrees. I imagine they would also have impeachment power over all ranking Ministry Officials.

Court wise, I would think they would only be convened for cases of political importance, or for the trial of important figures. Otherwise I would think that there would maybe be select panels or comittees of members versed in the law that would be convened for most crimes, and perhaps minor crimes are handled by the DMLE.

As for how to get appointed to the Wizengamot, I would think it would probably be a case of the Lords of Pureblood Families, and perhaps folk who have been granted the Order of Merlin First Class or something along those lines.
