Living vicariously ftw.

The advertising in the Yellow Pages came up in the very beginning of the first Dresden book. That was best possible intro IMO. Convinced me to keep reading instead of immediately switching to another series.

 

Well for starters there's no reason why wizards can't earn money the non magical way with investments and stuff. Also really old wizarding families would properly own lots of land and estates and so on which would provide an income.

For an actual job though (that's legal) I would say what Dresden does now. Only don't advertise your self as a wizard and pretend to be a really good private investigator, once you got a reputation for being REALLY good you get jobs like find the millionaire old ladies lost dog or find the world famous painting that's just been stolen.
